Today we had a workshop with a performing arts conservatory where students got to try out auditioning for a college program and learn what it takes to get accepted. Our next unit will be focused on learning the practical skills needed by actors and then they'll start to prepare scenes for the end of the term.\r\n\r\nNone of our work is as successful when students feel uncomfortable or nervous and the supplies you provided really helps make that possible. The hands-on, interactive nature of the tablets allows students to take ownership of their learning in a way that feels both fun and meaningful.\r\n\r\nSeveral students have commented on how helpful the noise-cancelling headphones and the fidget toys are and I noticed a significant improvement in focus while students are using them.","fullyFundedDate":1749776122439,"projectUrl":"project/the-zen-den-creating-calm-for-classroom/9352023/","projectTitle":"The Zen Den: Creating Calm for Classroom Success","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Mbabazi","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8964160_orig.jpg?crop=899,899,x0,y314&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1747141213297","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8964160"},{"teacherId":9555904,"projectId":9038860,"letterContent":"Thanks to your incredible generosity, my students will soon begin a powerful, hands-on journey exploring the impact of natural disasters like droughts. The books all have characters, conflicts and plots related to our unit theme on family relationships. Students have been able to make meaningful connections between these independent reading books and the short stories and poems that we have read as a class. \r\n\r\nAs a culminating task, students wrote an analysis essay that connected multiple unit texts and analyzed how the author's developed the theme. More than a few students chose to use their independent reading book as part of this assignment.
