My students are Latino & African American low-income inner city kids who are highly motivated to rise above their current circumstances and achieve their dreams and beyond. My students have caring parents who take part in their up-bringing and see the value of a well rounded education. These families apply to and compete for a space in a charter school so that they are not victims of circumstance - a failing school system). These are good kids who want to make good on a chance to become community leaders, productive citizens and more. As citizens of the District of Columbia,these children and their families are committed to achieve big dreams and end the cycle of a giant achievement gap. Learning in an arts-infused education will surely put these kids at an advantage when it is time for them to communicate to colleges and employers. These kids are maturing into well-rounded people.
