My students are a remarkable group of ninth graders at an inner-city school in Washington DC. My school caters to students from all over our nation's capital. Learners in my class come from a variety of backgrounds, many of them are bilingual. Often times it is the students who are teaching me. This helps make going into school every day a joy. Despite the minority and low-income status of the majority of our students, our school is dedicated to preparing all of our students to go to college. Many of my students are learning English as a second language and most need to hands-on experience with the content in order to be ready to take on college level work.
