With the new wobble chairs, camera, and headphones, we have been able to provide students with tools that support their individual learning needs while making our classroom a place where they feel comfortable and excited to learn.\r\n\r\nThe wobble chairs have been especially helpful for students who benefit from movement while working. They give students a way to move while remaining engaged in lessons and activities. The headphones help reduce distractions and allow students to focus on their work, especially during independent reading, math, tests, and other activities that require concentration. The camera has also given us more opportunities to record our memories and the great work our students are currently doing. \r\n\r\nOne of the most rewarding parts of this project has been seeing students get excited about using their new classroom tools. Whether they are choosing a wobble chair, putting on their headphones to focus, or participating in activities using the camera, these resources give students more ways to engage with learning. Every student learns differently, and having a variety of tools helps us meet those needs while encouraging independence and confidence.\r\n\r\nWe are especially grateful to have started the school year with these resources already in place. The materials that were a part of that project have already been put to good use. For the dry-erase markers, it is a key piece of material that we use in class, specifically during math. It allows students to demonstrate their thinking of math concepts using models and number sentences. It is a great way for me to assess student learning and to help see and clear misconceptions. As you can imagine, these markers don't last forever, so having a healthy supply of these markers is paramount because it can happen suddenly. \r\nIn my teaching career, I haven't used chimes as attention getters in many years. I thought that this year would be a great time to bring it back. I am happy to have brought this management tool back because it has been fairly easy for students to understand the cues when I do use it in class. Since this class is a little more lively than my cohorts in my previous year, it helps to grab their attention quicker than to try to talk over them. One of our favorites has been our novel study for Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes. The activities have helped my students stay engaged with the book, think more deeply about what they are reading, and have meaningful discussions with their classmates.\r\nIn addition, I have purchased activities that connect directly to our Wonders reading curriculum. My students especially enjoy having different activities and resources beyond their regular workbook pages.
