I do use it as a reward once they have met the minimums for the week but as the pictures show you, the incentives of playing keep the kids motivated to meet the challenges in academic ways. \r\n I love to hear and watch competitions between my students when they try to out spell, out score, or outwit their classmate. In one game they are trying to take down their opponent, and five minutes later they are cheering on that same person. The camaraderie that transpires in our room is such a unique and fun dynamic of challenge, knowledge, and sportsmanship, I have truly enjoyed their social growth just as much as their academic growth. \r\n I want to thank \"Donors Choose\" facility and its donors. This organization has helped my classrooms and my kids learn from many different avenues into the young teenagers they are now.","fullyFundedDate":1768154625188,"projectUrl":"project/the-comforts-of-home/9998044/","projectTitle":"The Comforts of Home","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Melohn","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8107401"},{"teacherId":9778909,"projectId":10017089,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation. Because of your kindness, we were able to purchase a variety of leveled readers that help us reach every student in our class. Having books that match each student's reading level makes a huge difference in their confidence and growth. My students absolutely love having books in their hands and are excited to read every day.\r\n\r\nStudents often read these books with partners, helping each other stretch out tricky words and build their confidence as readers. The books are also used to support the spelling patterns we focus on each week, allowing students to see and practice those patterns in real reading.\r\n\r\nWe are also incredibly grateful for the whiteboards you provided. Students use them daily to solve word problems, think through their strategies, and clearly show their work. Having the space to write, revise, and share their thinking has helped make learning more interactive and engaging.\r\n\r\nYour support truly makes a meaningful impact in our classroom. Thank you for helping create opportunities for my students to learn, grow, and enjoy reading and problem-solving.","fullyFundedDate":1768360782818,"projectUrl":"project/whiteboards-help-us-show-our-work/10011968/","projectTitle":"Whiteboards Help Us Show Our Work!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Robinson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8132229"},{"teacherId":8259589,"projectId":8008836,"letterContent":"The new chapter books introduced second graders to longer, more complex stories that help build stamina and confidence as readers. Students are learning how to follow a plot across multiple chapters, pay closer attention to characters, and notice how problems and solutions develop over time. The books also support vocabulary growth, comprehension, and critical thinking, while many stories naturally reinforce lessons about friendship, kindness, perseverance, and understanding others.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is lively and engaging. Students read independently and in small groups, often discussing chapters as they go. We pause to make predictions, talk about characters' choices, and reflect on what's happening in the story. The chapter books have encouraged students to read for longer periods of time and to stay invested in a story from one day to the next.\r\n\r\nMany students—especially those who were just beginning to feel confident as readers—have been especially excited about the chapter books. Several students proudly talk about finishing their \"first chapter book,\" and others ask to take books home to keep reading. It has been wonderful to see students recommending books to classmates and eagerly sharing what's happening in their stories. The donors' support has truly helped build excitement and confidence around reading.","fullyFundedDate":1699319387168,"projectUrl":"project/book-clubs-and-math-enrichment/8008836/","projectTitle":"Book Clubs and Math Enrichment","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Loder","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8259589_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y61&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1699318978010","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8259589"},{"teacherId":9349158,"projectId":7988707,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for contributing to my classroom for students with special needs.
