The use of academic discourse is a daily occurrence in my room. The students love to gather together and learn from me as well as each other. The use of the whiteboard is a daily activity in my classroom. Students gather together in whole group lessons to hear a story, work on a specific strategy or have discourse about a story we have read. Having an easel in the classroom would help facilitate learning in a more intimate setting. They will be close to each other and no student will feel left out or feel like they have been isolated. By using the classroom white board students are seated in their desks and don’t have access to each other, and it takes time to have them interact with the board. Having a teacher easel for students to gather round, they will be able to avoid all of these problems and focus on increasing their learning! By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement. Students will be able to simply focus on the academic material at hand, have meaningful discourse and feel confident to participate or lead a discussion. This will also be useful for small group centers and hands-on activities.
