Students learn best by doing and talking through ideas. If students know that they are creating a product that has an audience such as teachers and especially their peers, they are more likely to invest more time on the task of creating, editing, and producing something that is authentic and demonstrates their strengths. \r\n A school studio allows students to communicate and present material that is specific to a subject but is also student-driven and creative. Students must create a clear message that informs their audience in a format that is appropriate to their audience while not boring them. Students watch social media posts, and they understand how important it is to write a script, organize the narrative, and choose evidence that is impactful. They also need to use teamwork and time management to get their product created and presented on time. These skills are essential to college and the workplace.\r\n Our students were very excited to use the equipment which I had them put together, They managed the equipment and used the software to create a manual for its use. They loved putting on the headphones and hearing their voice. This was really impactful when they were revising their work. They put themselves in the shoes of their audience, and this practice informed their product. \r\n Many tech savvy students loved putting the system together, but so far, the teachers have used the equipment the most as they are creating instruction for their classes. In the future with more access at the start, more students will be able to use the studio for projects, book talks, and recording audiobooks. We have received permission from a published author to record one of her books for our Billinghurst students who are EL or SPED, so they can read a class novel along with their peers no matter their reading level or language. This not only benefits future students, but it helps stronger readers understand and be creative.\r\n There are so many possibilities for our students to explore, and we appreciate the opportunity you have given Billinghurst.","fullyFundedDate":1768170853803,"projectUrl":"project/creating-a-collaborative-creative-and-d/9994555/","projectTitle":"Creating a Collaborative, Creative and Diverse Learning Environment","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Mustard","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9102274"},{"teacherId":3607898,"projectId":9998957,"letterContent":"Our students have been actively using the provided supplies to create a wide range of engaging and meaningful projects, including posters, presentations, and handmade books that showcase their learning. These materials have allowed them to move beyond traditional methods of demonstrating understanding and instead express their knowledge in creative, personalized ways. Whether illustrating key concepts, designing visual representations of their ideas, or organizing information into thoughtfully crafted formats, students have been able to take ownership of their work and present it with pride.\r\n\r\nHaving access to these resources has made a significant difference in the classroom. It ensures that every student, regardless of background or circumstance, has the tools needed to fully participate in hands-on learning experiences. This level of access promotes equity and inclusion, as all students are given the same opportunity to succeed and express themselves. It also removes barriers that might otherwise prevent some students from fully engaging in creative projects.\r\n\r\nThe impact of these materials goes beyond simply completing assignments. Students are developing important skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication. As they plan and create their projects, they must think deeply about the content, organize their ideas, and decide how best to present their understanding. This process strengthens both their academic skills and their confidence.\r\n\r\nProviding all students with the necessary materials to creatively demonstrate their learning has truly been invaluable. It has transformed the classroom into a more dynamic and inclusive environment where every student can thrive. By supporting creativity and ensuring equal access to resources, we are helping students build not only knowledge but also confidence and a lifelong love of learning.","fullyFundedDate":1768158240833,"projectUrl":"project/low-tech-essentials-for-enhancing-scienc/9998957/","projectTitle":"Low Tech Essentials for Enhancing Science Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Rotondi","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3607898_orig.png?crop=497,497,x0,y24&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1767930455746","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3607898"},{"teacherId":8131698,"projectId":9994389,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for providing the resources needed for my students, staff, and families to be successful at the middle school and elementary school levels. \r\n\r\nMy students have been able to help hang the Govee lights and use the app on the iPad to manipulate the settings for various light features. I introduced the lesson with images and videos of Peter Max and his style of painting. We spent time talking about why Max used such bold colors and how students can make similar choices in their own work. One of the National art standards is working with unfamiliar materials; by using paint markers instead of traditional paint this checks the box on this standard. The students were focused and happy as everyone settled into outlining shapes and filling in bright sections of color.\r\n\r\nThe students were excited to use the paint markers, many of heard of them, but only a few had tried them. Once they tried them, the excitement grew—several students commented on how smooth the colors went down and how easy it was to layer without making a mess. It felt like the materials opened a door for them.\r\n\r\nFinally, students added final outlines and small details to bring their Peter Max–inspired pieces together.
