I teach a guitar/music enrichment class. This is not a music class. The class consists of students that typically do not have a niche or a place to fit in. I have borrowed the school's electric keyboard, but am not allowed to keep it in class, plus it is too bulky and takes up the science table room. With the Yamaha P125 Black 88 Weighted Keys Digital Piano Keyboard, all of my students will be able to play year-round, and as an added bonus, it fits upfront without removing any science tables. We've never had a piano or weighted keyboard, but the interest is there. We focus on guitar, but also sing, dance, and play instruments of various types. We occasionally take a "field trip" down to the school's music department and play the piano there. We perform for other enrichment classes throughout the year and typically perform at our end-of-the-year assembly for all 900+ students and faculty. COVID-19 has kept us from that recently. My regular science students have planned SEL lessons and brain break times woven throughout each week. They join in the music, singing, and playing, as well.
