The rewards, like snacks and small items, transformed abstract academic goals into concrete, desirable targets. This was impactful for students who previously struggled with reading; the prospect of earning \"halos\" and redeeming them at the store provided the necessary motivation to practice and improve their reading skills. The result was a significant increase in reading proficiency, with even reluctant readers making progress.\r\nThe store is a focal point of excitement and positive reinforcement, fostering a vibrant and engaging classroom environment. Students are eager to participate in activities and demonstrate their learning, knowing that their efforts would be rewarded. The \"halos\" acted as a tangible measure of their progress and achievement, building their confidence and fostering a sense of accomplishment. The positive association with the classroom, driven by the reward system, transformed it into a favorite among students.\r\n\r\nYour donations went beyond providing mere material rewards. They served as a catalyst for academic growth and a powerful tool for fostering a love of learning. During my Breathe for Change training, I gained invaluable insights into mindfulness, self-care, and social-emotional learning (SEL). I left the training feeling equipped to handle the demands of teaching with greater patience and empathy.\r\n\r\nOne example that I have used in my classroom is a simple breathing exercise we practiced during the training. It's called the \"5-4-3-2-1 grounding technique,\" which helps students become aware of their surroundings and bring themselves back to the present moment. In a chaotic or stressful situation, I can guide my students to pause, take a deep breath, and use their senses to focus on the present. This tool will be especially helpful for students dealing with anxiety or overwhelming emotions, helping them self-regulate and refocus on their learning.","fullyFundedDate":1726661375897,"projectUrl":"project/breathe-for-change-the-next-level-to-co/8705376/","projectTitle":"Breathe for Change: the Next Level to Compassion and Healing","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Judy","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7831742_orig.jpg?crop=750,750,x0,y292&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1619804169108","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7831742"},{"teacherId":9410916,"projectId":8104829,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation that provided food and maracas for my high school Spanish class! \r\n\r\nThe refreshments you provided made a big impact.
