My students are enjoying the ability to work comfortably throughout the room. I have heard them on numerous occasions ask if they can silent read around the room! This is a HUGE plus, because I noticed initially I had a class full of students who just didn't enjoy reading. I know that seems silly, but these additions to the classroom are truly making a difference in their education. As we all know, the only way to improve reading skills is to just keep reading! Now with the flexible seating and sensory rug they are taking the initiative to silent read around the room during any down time. This is a double bonus because in our classroom we emphasize autonomy. \r\n\r\nMy students are currently working on analyzing literature and being able to determine the structure of grade level literary pieces. This has been a struggle for us to overcome, but I know with the joy of reading being brought into our room that this will be an obstacle they will overcome and succeed in. I also have two students who use the \"wobble\" inserts on the bottom of their current seats. These are two students who struggle with being stationary and staying focused. They also have had struggles with learning in their seat, which is of course a safety issue. However with the wobble inserts on their seats, I have noticed more classroom engagement from these particular students. They have expressed great gratitude for having these in class daily. I even had a parent ask where I got them from! I was estatic to brag about how supportive our community is and how Donor's choose has impacted our classroom greatly.","fullyFundedDate":1788304897179,"projectUrl":"project/flexible-seating-for-diverse-learners/10480826/","projectTitle":"Flexible Seating for Diverse Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. McDaniel","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10415523"},{"teacherId":8121863,"projectId":10574168,"letterContent":"On behalf of our students and classroom community, thank you for your generous support and for investing in the success of our elementary learners! Your kindness helps us create a welcoming, engaging, and supportive classroom where every student has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.\r\n\r\nFlexible seating provides students with opportunities to choose learning spaces that help them feel comfortable, focused, and ready to learn. Having options such as alternative seating arrangements can encourage student independence, increase engagement, support collaboration, and help students take ownership of their learning. When children feel comfortable and connected to their classroom environment, they are better prepared to participate, build relationships, and do their best work.\r\n\r\nNew books that students can read simply for enjoyment are another meaningful way to support student success. When children have access to books that spark their interests, inspire their imaginations, and encourage curiosity, they begin to see reading as something fun and rewarding rather than just another school assignment. These positive reading experiences help build confidence, develop vocabulary, strengthen comprehension, and foster a lifelong love of reading. Every book gives a child another opportunity to grow into a stronger, more enthusiastic reader!\r\n\r\nEveryday classroom supplies, such as pencil holders, clipboards, and headphones, also make a tremendous difference in students' daily learning experiences. Pencil holders help keep materials organized and within reach, clipboards provide flexibility for learning in different spaces, and headphones allow students to focus during independent digital learning activities. These practical tools help students stay organized, minimize distractions, and be prepared to participate successfully in everyday classroom routines.\r\n\r\nYour generosity supports more than classroom materials. It helps create an environment where students feel valued, develop independence, discover the joy of reading, and build the skills they need for future success. Wobble feet provide gentle, controlled movement that supports balance, core strength, and body awareness. Students use them by placing their feet on the discs while seated, allowing for subtle rocking or shifting that helps release excess energy in a safe, productive way. Many students immediately responded with excitement and curiosity, often smiling or asking if they could keep using them. As they settled in, teachers noticed calmer bodies, improved posture, and longer periods of focused engagement.\r\n\r\nFidget toys offer a different but equally important kind of support. Students use them during lessons, transitions, or moments of stress to keep their hands busy in a calming, purposeful way. Whether squeezing, stretching, or rolling a fidget, these tools help ease anxiety and prevent sensory overload. Kids often react with relief and enthusiasm, expressing how the fidgets \"help their hands feel busy\" or make it easier to listen. Together, wobble feet and fidget toys create a learning environment where students' sensory needs are respected, their independence is strengthened, and their overall confidence grows.","fullyFundedDate":1788793137906,"projectUrl":"project/empowering-student-success-through-essen/10600582/","projectTitle":"Empowering Student Success Through Essential Sensory Tools and Supports","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Postorino","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9351863_orig.jpg?crop=841,841,x8,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1721244717576","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9351863"},{"teacherId":10653630,"projectId":10602014,"letterContent":"Your generosity has made a meaningful difference in our classroom! The dramatic play clothing has also inspired imaginative play, with students taking on different roles and collaborating with one another. \r\n\r\nWe have also been using the math games and 3-D foam shapes during small group activities to build early math skills. Students love creating and exploring shapes, strengthening their understanding of basic geometry through art and play.
