The funding of this project helped us acquire materials for our students we would not have been able to afford on our own. \r\n\r\nThe first material that was used were the NumberBlocks sensory counting tubes. The students LOVE these. We had them out at our discovery center during the first few weeks of school. The sensory tubes helped some of our anxious students calm down as they watched the floating glitter in the tubes and counted the blocks, following the numbers on the side. One student said, \"I know these, I watch them on TV!\"\r\n\r\nThe letter matching trays and letter mirror sets were also a hit. The students love matching the magnetic letters to the trays and being able to see their mouth make the letter sound in the mirror. One student excitedly said, \"Wait... we get to pick where we sit?\" It was a total game-changer. From cozy reading corners with scoop chairs to wiggle stools at our writing table, these new resources instantly made our room feel more like a place that belonged to them. It wasn't just about furniture—it was about giving them choice, comfort, and the confidence to learn in a way that works for their unique needs.\r\n\r\nWe've already put the seating to great use during our nonfiction writing unit. Students got to move around and pick spaces that helped them stay focused while researching animals and organizing their ideas into paragraphs. I noticed that even students who typically struggle with stamina were more engaged and less distracted. One of my most active learners proudly told me, \"This stool helps my brain stay calm!\" That kind of insight and self-awareness is exactly what I hope for in my classroom.\r\n\r\nNext, we're diving into a collaborative science project on plant growth, and students will be using the flexible seating options to work in small groups and rotate through research, journaling, and observation stations. These materials have made it easier to structure engaging, student-led learning experiences that promote both independence and teamwork. Thanks to you, our classroom feels like a space where learning is active, inclusive, and joyful.","fullyFundedDate":1699977860110,"projectUrl":"project/creating-a-comfortable-classroom/8027158/","projectTitle":"Creating A Comfortable Classroom!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Smith","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9367401_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1764816597284","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9367401"},{"teacherId":499403,"projectId":9027911,"letterContent":"Thank you so very much for your generous donations!
