The \"A Little SPOT\" book and plush toy sets have become a cornerstone of our daily social-emotional learning routine, providing students with tangible, engaging tools to identify, understand, and manage their emotions.\r\n\r\nThe resources funded by this project—including the SEL book bundles, emotion plush toys, and activity books—have significantly enhanced students' ability to express themselves constructively. Many of my students struggle with emotional regulation due to profound intellectual disabilities and trauma backgrounds, and these tools have made abstract emotional concepts accessible and relatable. The visual, tactile, and repetitive nature of the materials has proven especially effective in supporting comprehension and emotional vocabulary development.\r\n\r\nSince implementing the curriculum, I've seen a notable reduction in behavioral incidents, increased peer interaction, and improved classroom focus. Students now use phrases like \"I feel frustrated\" or \"I need a calm spot\" instead of acting out. These improvements not only support their academic engagement but also foster a sense of safety and belonging.\r\n\r\nYour donation did more than just fund materials—it empowered my students with lifelong skills in self-awareness, emotional regulation, and empathy. The positive ripple effects of this project extend beyond the classroom, influencing students' home lives and future opportunities.\r\n\r\nFrom the bottom of my heart, thank you for believing in my students and in the power of emotional learning.","fullyFundedDate":1701108357553,"projectUrl":"project/social-and-emotional-regulation-skills/7983224/","projectTitle":"Social and Emotional Regulation Skills","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Platt","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp2882086_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1471663008297","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/robbplatt"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_30844","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":947,"numTeachers":53,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":17,"percentWhite":4,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":71,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"17.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":40.1,"schoolId":30844,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Jerome D Mack Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Jerome D Mack Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/nevada/clark-county-school-district/jerome-d-mack-middle-school/30844"}
