Recently, I held a \"Gallery Walk\" where students used the easel pads to map out character arcs from our latest novel. Seeing them collaborate and demonstrate their understanding on such a large scale brought a new level of energy to our literary analysis.\r\n\r\nSoon, students will be using the index cards to organize their evidence and the wide-ruled filler paper to draft their opening statements for a mock trial project. We plan to use the various colors of Astrobrights paper to color-code different rhetorical appeals—ethos, pathos, and logos—so students can visually track the strength of their arguments. \r\n\r\nAgain, I want to thank you for affording my students this unique opportunity to learn with every supply they need readily available to them.","fullyFundedDate":1768100707324,"projectUrl":"project/creating-a-welcoming-classroom/9992075/","projectTitle":"Creating a Welcoming Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Navarro","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9348950_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1698880122623","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9348950"},{"teacherId":10414343,"projectId":10046546,"letterContent":"The new resources allow our students to have some independence with preparing some food to eat. The boost in confidence is amazing, some of the students are non-verbal but the smile on their faces says it all. \r\nThe students are also learning to use the microwave and air fryer. They are not able to read but they can pour and mix ingredients. The next project is continuing to progress with independent living skills, cleaning up after preparing food or smoothies. My environmental science students used to both resources in their Eco-Column assignment where they mimic an open terrestrial and aquatic ecosystem. Using the DO meter, we can measure the oxygen levels in water samples to make sure we are creating an environment safe for aquatic organisms. \r\n\r\nThe day the boxes of glasses arrived felt like a holiday. When I pulled out the new lab glasses, the students were thrilled to replace our old, scratched pairs with ones they could actually see through! However, the real star was the DO meter. One memorable moment was during a recent math practice activity when students eagerly flipped over their papers, excited to see which sticker they earned after solving multi-step problems. Students are now able to track their fitness data, set personal goals, and reflect on their progress using digital tools. For example, they can monitor heart rate zones, log workouts, and analyze improvement over time. This transforms PE from just \"doing\" activities into understanding health, fitness, and lifelong wellness. It also allows us to incorporate lessons on nutrition, anatomy, and personal fitness planning in a much more engaging and interactive way.\r\n\r\nWhat excites students most about the laptops is the sense of ownership over their learning. They love being able to create personalized fitness plans, watch skill demonstrations, and immediately apply what they learn. Instead of passively participating, they are actively engaged in designing their own fitness journey. The technology also makes learning more accessible—students can revisit instructions, watch videos at their own pace, and receive instant feedback.\r\n\r\nWe've seen some particularly powerful impacts on students who may not traditionally thrive in a physical education setting. Students who are less confident in their athletic abilities have really connected with the technology side of the class. They take pride in tracking progress, researching fitness topics, and setting achievable goals. Additionally, students who are more academically inclined enjoy the data analysis and reflection components, giving them another way to shine in PE. English language learners and students who benefit from visual supports have also gained confidence by using videos and interactive tools to better understand activities.\r\n\r\nOverall, these laptops are helping us create a more inclusive, personalized, and meaningful PE experience. They are not just enhancing how students move—they are deepening how they think about their health, their goals, and their future.","fullyFundedDate":1768174167790,"projectUrl":"project/technology-in-the-classroom/10002713/","projectTitle":"Technology in the Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Coach Gidge","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9714566"},{"teacherId":8232824,"projectId":10044194,"letterContent":"The laptop has enhanced learning in my Weight Training and PE classes by allowing me to incorporate instructional videos, visual demonstrations, and individualized workout plans. They enjoy watching demonstrations, tracking their progress, and seeing real improvements over time. The technology makes fitness feel more engaging, relevant, and connected to tools they already use in their daily lives.\r\n\r\nStudents who benefit most are those who prefer visual or self-paced learning. The snacks and small incentives you helped provide have become powerful tools that help students stay focused, engaged, and excited about learning.\r\n\r\nWe use the treats as part of our classroom motivation system. Students earn rewards for completing assignments, participating in lessons, showing perseverance with difficult problems, and demonstrating positive behavior. One memorable moment happened during a challenging math lesson. Several students who normally hesitate to participate began raising their hands and volunteering to explain their thinking. Knowing there was a small reward for effort and participation helped give them the confidence to try. It turned a quiet lesson into an energetic discussion where students supported each other and celebrated their successes.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new snacks and reward supplies, their excitement filled the room. They immediately asked how they could earn them, which opened the door for meaningful conversations about effort, responsibility, and goal setting. The rewards quickly became more than just treats—they became symbols of achievement and recognition for hard work.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, students are now more motivated to complete their work, stay on task, and challenge themselves academically. The treats also help maintain energy during long learning periods, especially during intensive lessons and assessments.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we will continue using these incentives as part of our classroom goal-setting system. Students are currently working on improving their problem-solving and critical thinking skills in math and reading. They are setting personal learning goals and earning rewards as they reach milestones along the way. The motivation system you helped provide is helping them build confidence, develop positive habits, and take pride in their accomplishments.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has done more than provide snacks—it has helped create a classroom culture where effort is celebrated, persistence is encouraged, and students feel proud of their progress.
