The weight room is used on a daily basis by both our physical education classes and our sports teams. Many of our barbells were outdated and no longer functional and your donation helped to fix this problem. The barbells we received were forty-five pounds and thirty-five pounds; having the lighter ones has allowed us to teach proper lifting techniques to all our students. The lighter barbells have allowed students to be successful leading to them wanting to continue to learn new workout routines. The accessories included barbell clips and landmine barbell attachments; the clips help us to reinforce safety when using free weights. The landmine attachments have allowed us to teach different exercises that we didn't have the capablility to do before. \r\nIt has been nice to hear students (especially the upper grades) comment on how nice it is to have barbells that work. Many of the younger students are appreciative of having lighter weights to use. The sensors collect force data during lab inquiries and transmit the data via bluetooth to the student's laptop. Vernier provides a free version of its data collection software, which has a variety of tools, including graphs of the data. \r\nWe put them to use right away after they arrived to see how forces varies from horizontal situations to inclines, as well as centripetal force in vertical and horizontal circular motion. \r\nTheir accuracy and real time data collection brought the students' understanding to a new level. \r\nThanks for funding this project. Students are fascinated by the fact that the original novel was published in 1985, and yet its message continues to endure today. \r\n\r\nMy aim, as we continue on our journey of reading circles, written responses, meaningful discussions and research based inquiries, is for students to foster their own discussions outside the classroom of what our world will look like if we continue heading down the current path.
