Students today need access to primary source content to learn to decipher and interpret the real meaning behind current and historical events. Without access to any data beyond the events of 9/11, my students' perspectives are limited (our textbook ends on September 11, 2001). Technology in my classroom will allow me to generate a more balanced perspective for my students. It will also enable me to teach the 21st-century skills necessary to become functioning citizens of our society. Citizens' today often use social media and online content to understand the world. Without practice, my students will not know how to function, communicate and learn in our online community. They will not know how to gauge point of view versus truth, and they will not know how to use the online community to advance their own social causes in the future.
