We rolled up the old rug and unrolled the new rug while the children were having snack. When they returned to the classroom, they had a whole new rug! The bean bags have become a favorite space for independent reading and cool-down moments, and they've transformed our calm corner into a truly safe, supportive environment. The weighted stuffed animals have been especially helpful during small-group instruction; students who often have difficulty focusing are able to engage for longer periods while holding the animals on their laps. The sensory toys have also become an essential part of our morning routine, helping students prepare themselves emotionally and mentally for learning.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward these tools will continue to play a vital role in getting ready to learn. Our next step is teaching students how to independently choose the tools that best support their learning—an important skill they'll carry far beyond our classroom.\r\n\r\nYour kindness has made a real difference. They're not just playing—they're discovering how pieces fit together, testing ideas, and learning to revise their thinking when something doesn't work the first time.\r\nThe drawing boards have supported our learners in becoming more confident creators and communicators. Students are practicing labeling, storyboarding, and illustrating their ideas. These boards are especially helpful for students who express their thinking better through pictures before writing.\r\nOur fidget games have made a major difference during after-school hours.
