The bean bags have become a favorite space for independent reading and cool-down moments, and they've transformed our calm corner into a truly safe, supportive environment. The weighted stuffed animals have been especially helpful during small-group instruction; students who often have difficulty focusing are able to engage for longer periods while holding the animals on their laps. The sensory toys have also become an essential part of our morning routine, helping students prepare themselves emotionally and mentally for learning.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward these tools will continue to play a vital role in getting ready to learn. While many families are familiar with these items at home, using them intentionally in an educational setting has opened up brand-new learning opportunities.\r\nThe Magnatiles and magnetic boards have become powerful hands-on tools for building math, engineering, and problem-solving skills. Students use them to create structures, explore shapes, and experiment with balance and design. They're not just playing—they're discovering how pieces fit together, testing ideas, and learning to revise their thinking when something doesn't work the first time.\r\nThe drawing boards have supported our learners in becoming more confident creators and communicators. Students are practicing labeling, storyboarding, and illustrating their ideas. These boards are especially helpful for students who express their thinking better through pictures before writing.\r\nOur fidget games have made a major difference during after-school hours. They help students who need movement or sensory input stay calm, focused, and ready to learn or participate. They've quickly become part of our routine to support emotional regulation and encourage positive social interactions.\r\nWhat excites students most is the freedom and creativity these materials give them. They love seeing their ideas come to life—whether it's a complex Magnatile tower, a magnetic word puzzle, or an illustrated story on a drawing board. The colorful Dot Markers have made the activities fun & engaging for everyone. \r\n\r\nThe School-Rite handwriting guides have helped the students with dyslexia and dysgraphia practice the routine of writing each number and implement it into their own independent writing. \r\n\r\nLastly, the gift card to Teachers pay Teachers has been so impactful in not only the students' learning, but my teaching and planning as well. I have struggled with some of our curriculums limitations when it comes time to accommodations and modification, but the TPT website has allowed me to connect with materials that provide that access for our special students. \r\n\r\nThank you for being a friend of the Mather. The sensory toys and games you helped provide have become powerful tools for building the skills we focus on every single day. They pointed out the items they hoped to save up for, made plans with their classmates, and talked excitedly about what they needed to do to meet their goals. Students are setting goals, tracking their progress, supporting their classmates, and making thoughtful decisions about saving versus spending, skills they will carry far beyond the classroom.
