There has been zero funding allocated for physical education at the Mather Elementary School. We are literally using equipment from the 80's. The materials will help foster students physical, social and emotional growth while participating in physical education. It will build the foundation for their love for movement, fitness and exercise activities. Gymnastics is such a rewarding activity because you can see the students' growth within each class. Students will learn to tumble, cartwheel, roundoff, bridge, balance on the balance beam, perform a toe touch off the trampoline, etc while participating in the gymnastics unit. Students will also strengthen their core muscles, become more flexible, and improve their spatial and body awareness. These materials will transform the physical education program at the Mather Elementary School.
