This project is the kick-off to a 3rd grade campaign for providing technology in the classroom. With the varied needs in each 3rd grade, we are hoping to help all students access the curriculum and make the world a little smaller through gaining knowledge. Our students need Chromebooks to access the curriculum, become stronger readers and writers, research, and learn the other 21st century skills needed for them to succeed after their time in school. Students are learning to make connections to themselves, other texts, and the world as we read engaging stories of students from around the world. These Chromebooks will help all students be able to access the stories no matter what their reading level is. Currently, we have 1 set of computers for 5 classrooms, thus making it sometimes difficult to reach all learners at all parts of the day. It is a long term goal of the 3rd grade team to be a 1-1 ratio of computers to students. Our short term goal is to raise enough funds to secure an additional cart.
