The students in my classroom come from low income families and many different cultural backgrounds such as Cape Verdeans, Asians, Latinos, Jamaicans, Guatemala, Grenada etc. They are proud of their cultural backgrounds and enjoy learning about diversity. My school is a very culturally diverse community and we take pride in our cultural assemblies that have quickly become a part of the school's climate. We are a large school with close to 600 students. We service grades k1 through 5th. Our students are excited to come to school and we have a lot of resources and fun filled activities that families and students can take part in. However our supply budget is limited and providing top of the line classroom materials can sometimes be a challenge.
