Instead of numbers, students have to correctly identify notes on the treble clef staff to determine which colors to use. It has been such a fun way for them to strengthen their music-reading skills while getting to be creative, and they are always excited when they realize we are having a \"coloring day\" in orchestra! These simple supplies have allowed me to turn skills that can sometimes feel repetitive into activities my students genuinely enjoy.\r\n\r\nRight now, all of that learning is leading toward an exciting milestone: our first fall concert at the beginning of October! My students are working hard to apply their note-reading, rhythm, ensemble, and instrument-care skills as we prepare our concert music. The snacks have already been incredibly helpful during long school days, especially for students who need a little extra support staying focused and regulated throughout lessons.\r\nOne moment that really stood out to me was during our small group reading rotations. Students were more engaged, comfortable, and willing to participate because they felt relaxed and cared for in the classroom environment. Having cleaning materials readily available has also helped us maintain a cleaner and healthier space, which is especially important in a high-traffic special education classroom. Chromebook chargers and notebooks aloud my students to take notes and keep their Chromebooks charged while we were learning science topics in class. These things go a long way in removing barriers to my students' science education.\r\n\r\nThe fidget spinners were used to calculate angular acceleration utilizing a cellphone app. Students graphed angular velocity vs time and obtained to slope to get the angular deceleration. The foil and plastic wrap were used to make parachutes for toys that students dropped of the 2nd story.
