However, this was one of the most important. End-of-year state testing (the MAP test in Missouri) requires a lot of learning throughout the year, indeed. But it also requires specific materials and paradigms during the actual test. \r\n\r\nFor example, students need silence. If you didn't fund 1,200 pre-sharpened pencils, then students would have been distracted during testing by the sound of the nonstop pencil sharpener. You funded vellum paper, which is the secret (approved) weapon that our 8th graders use when dealing with transformations. They have only dabbled with the supplies so far, and can't wait to create amazing projects. \r\n\r\nOur Self-Contained Special Education class has spent meaningful time exploring the supplies. Students were fascinated by the color-mixing effects of splatter painting. They were also deeply engaged with the Pixel Art kit, demonstrating impressive focus and curiosity. We experimented with cyanotype using blacklights due to the limited winter sunlight. They were excited for the process and will be helpers in the future with other classes. \r\n\r\nSoon, students will expand their learning through printmaking with a full range of colors. They have improved the flow I our room, given students the chance to explore responsibility through class jobs and give myself peace of mine when it comes to organization. \r\n\r\nThe resources we were provided through your donations are being used everyday in our classroom. The chair pockets are used throughout the day for students to keep their library books, store art work or other personal papers, chromebooks and for some, a pencil. \r\n\r\nFor our mailboxes, students have the opportunity to apply for a classroom job as a paper manager and they organize any work, flyers, or papers we need given to every student. They file the mailboxes and enjoy keeping themselves busy. It helps us as the teachers as well, especially towards the end of our day. \r\n\r\nAnd our other donation being the incentives from the box of classroom prizes and stickers has been a great help in rewarding students for their hard work. Students are required to complete 4 iReady reading and math lessons during the week. With this goal, they have an accountability partner that also have the same goal. If both partners meet their goal, they get a prize from the treasure box. If only one of the partners meet their goal, they are rewarded with a sticker. Students gravitated toward this reward system which gave us a set boundary on keeping track with data and giving students something to work towards. \r\n\r\nAgain, thank you for your support and making our days better in the classroom.
