Students took pride in designing meaningful gifts that reflected the graduates' personalities, accomplishments, school memories, and hard work.\r\n\r\nThe project also provided valuable hands-on experience with design and crafting tools, helping students develop creativity, problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and confidence in their abilities. Most importantly, students saw how their work could bring joy to others and contribute to an important school celebration.\r\n\r\nThe finished keepsakes became special reminders of the graduates' journey at Barnard Elementary and the support of their school community. Students were able to explore new genres, discover new authors, and select books that challenged them while still being enjoyable. This increased their confidence as readers and helped strengthen their comprehension, fluency, vocabulary, and critical-thinking skills.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, the project gave students greater ownership of their reading choices. Seeing students excited to talk about their books, recommend books to classmates, and look forward to choosing their next book showed me that the project helped create a positive reading culture in our classroom. My students love having the freedom to choose a workspace that actually fits their body and energy levels.\r\n\r\nA specific moment that made me smile happened during our recent \"Build-an-Array\" multiplication workshop. Instead of squeezing math manipulatives onto tiny standard desks, my students grabbed their lap desks and spread out across our classroom rug in small groups. One student, who normally gets overwhelmed during independent math practice, spent forty-five uninterrupted minutes happily building arrays on the carpet—completely locked in and proud of their work!\r\n\r\nThe day the delivery boxes arrived was a mix of confusion yet high leverage excitement! When I opened the packages and told my 3rd graders that these lap desks meant we could transform our rug into a flexible math area. They couldn't wait to test them out! The fidget bands were an immediate hit, too—my students were so touched to learn that generous donors outside our school cared about their learning and comfort. It made our classroom feel so special and supported.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we are taking these tools right into our next big geometry unit, where students will be designing \"Dream Classroom\" floor plans to calculate perimeter and area! The lap desks will be essential for spreading out large grid paper and collaborating in floor groups, while the fidget bands keep energy focused during whole-group instruction. Having these resources gives my 3rd graders the comfort and stamina they need to tackle big math challenges with confidence. Through the use of this printer we have been able to print and label classroom materials. These labels have helped students with identifying letters and reading simple words. We have been able to print various forms for students to use during free choice center time that encourage writing skills.

\r\n\r\nThe thing that has been most exciting to students about this printer is the learning opportunities it has provided. The high quality color pictures have been used as a visual aid during read alouds, small group activities, etc. to help teach complex concepts, vocabulary or build comprehension. Students have been more engaged and involved in the learning with the use of the color printer.

\r\n\r\nSome students have warmed more to this new technology by asking for pictures to be printed for independent activities. Students have asked for words to be printed so that they can see the correct spelling of words they are trying to write. As a teacher, this initiative students have recently taken towards their learning has reinforced the importance of having technology in the classroom.
