For the first time in my teaching career I have been able to gift my students items during the holidays. They were so excited to have Halloween pencils and erasers. It's now almost December and I'm still sharpening those today, which tells me this was a practical yet specific gift. I am very excited to give them a Christmas pencil here in a few weeks!\r\n\r\nThe cool write on boards got not only a gasp when I showed them how it works, but it's gotten cheers everytime I've said they can uae them during lessons. They often ask me to use it during free time or inside recsss. We use them often with spelling practice instead of paper and their eyes light every time they get to use them. \r\n\r\nI have seen the biggest engagement with my free time selection. The items you donated are the first things grabbed for free time and indoor recess and they provide unlimited possibilities for creation, imagination, and engagement. They could sit for hours building something and starting over to build something new. My students are learning how to work together, problem solve, share, and use their creativity. Nothing more could be asked for in these moments, it's truly been a treat to watch them with these donated items!\r\n\r\nThank you from the bottom of my heart for providing my classroom with these items. It has impacted them greatly and will impact my future classes as well.","fullyFundedDate":1757524939802,"projectUrl":"project/magical-minds-tools-for-engagement-foc/9629044/","projectTitle":"Magical Minds: Tools for Engagement, Focus, and Joy","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Lambert","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8617792_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755748971681","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8617792"},{"teacherId":4744875,"projectId":9546862,"letterContent":"The addition of individual whiteboards and erasers has had a big impact on my classroom. They helped with the way my students participate in lessons. Every student in my class now has the ability to show their work and thinking in real time, which has led to higher engagement, more meaningful practice, and instant feedback during instruction. Students who have been hesitant to share answers aloud are now participating with more confidence.\r\n\r\nThe whiteboards have supported stronger learning across subject. It doesn't whether we're solving math problems, practicing sight words, or brainstorming ideas. Because students can quickly erase and try again, they feel more comfortable taking risks, and I've seen a noticeable increase in persistence and independence.\r\n\r\nThe storage containers helped us keep materials organized and accessible, making transitions smoother and maximizing learning time. Students take pride in caring for their supplies and using them responsibly.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, my classroom feels more interactive, hands-on, and student-centered. Your support has transformed our classroom into a vibrant space of exploration and creativity. With the new clipboards our first graders have been able to take their learning beyond the confines of our classroom walls. Recently, we embarked on an exciting nature walk where students used the clipboards to jot down observations and sketch the world around them. We have also been able to use the clipboards for activities in side the classroom allowing for variety and more movement. \r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new materials, they were so excited with anticipation. The crayon boxes have become a favorite, allowing them to express their creativity in new and organized ways. The take-home folders have also played a crucial role in transporting items home to show parents their work. This has fostered a stronger connection between school and home, encouraging students to continue their learning journey outside school hours.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we are planning a project where students will document the changing seasons, using their clipboards to gather data and their crayon boxes to create seasonal art. Your support has not only equipped them with the tools to learn but has also inspired a sense of curiosity and wonder that will fuel their educational journey. Through these stories, our students are diving deep into reading comprehension, learning to identify story elements such as characters, settings, and the problems and solutions presented. These skills are not just fundamental to reading, but they also spark creativity and critical thinking in young minds.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, the books are instrumental in our grammar lessons. Our students are enthusiastically learning about nouns and verbs, and how punctuation shapes the way stories are told. This comprehensive approach is helping them not only to read more effectively but also to express themselves more clearly.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, these books are fostering a love of reading that I hope will last a lifetime. By engaging with these stories, the children are not only learning but are also discovering the joy and escapism that reading can bring.\r\n\r\nThank you once again for your kindness and support. Now, every student can follow along during lessons, and we can have richer, more inclusive discussions. These materials have turned our classroom into an engaging, creative, and safe space for social emotional learning.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new toys, their excitement was contagious. They gasped, clapped, and immediately started making plans about what to play with first. Several students eagerly took on roles at the pet vet station, caring for stuffed animals and practicing empathy and teamwork as they \"diagnosed\" and \"treated\" their furry patients. Others gathered around the rug, using cars and the train set to build imaginative communities and share stories.\r\n\r\nOne memorable project was our \"Community Helpers\" week. Students used the blocks and building kits to design a town together, incorporating the train set and car rug. Each child chose a role—vet, builder, driver—and worked with classmates to solve problems and help one another. I watched as students negotiated, listened, and encouraged each other, building both structures and friendships at the same time.\r\n\r\nThese toys are now part of our daily social emotional learning centers. They promote sharing, communication, and problem-solving every day. The new storage has also helped students practice responsibility and organization as they clean up and care for their classroom.\r\n\r\nOur next steps include having students write and act out short stories based on their play. For example, after working at the vet station, students will create stories about helping animals and being kind friends. During STEM time, they will plan and build new structures as a team, reflecting on how they cooperated and communicated.\r\n\r\nThank you for your support.
