My students come from many different backgrounds. They have been put together because of boundary changes in the schools from three different public schools. A third of my students have also come from various charter schools, private schools, or have been home schooled. They have been put together from these schools to attend a new school together. They are working hard to make new friends, create a new school community, and feel comfortable in a new environment. In my classroom, students are encouraged to ask questions and if I do not know the answers, we will discover them together. Students are not left to sit at their desks for long periods of time. They are up and moving. They are collaborating. They are discovering. We work hard together and play hard together.
