Because students were mainly online the last two years, teachers sacrificed hands-on science experiments and science lessons so that students could at least access the bare minimum of reading, writing, and math. I am new to the US Science curriculum because I lived overseas teaching at International Schools. I have to start over as a "first year teacher" in a school, during COVID, where the budget is limited and the curriculum is new to me; my students deserve more. I have almost no science equipment in my classroom because the science standards differ throughout the world. I am seeking to add science books that correlate with the UT State standards, including books on space, fossils, energy, and waves; knowing that these books will not only provide science knowledge, but also reading foundations for my COVID-crippled students. I want to continue these COVID-rehabilitation efforts by allowing students the opportunities to connect with scientific curriculum while also getting back on track with their reading skills. Along with more ways to make science more multi-disciplinary, I would like to provide students ways to create more sustainable energy models in the classroom. I would like circuits, batteries, motors, a windmill energy kit, hydroelectric energy kit, solar energy kit, etc. because we all know that the next generation will hopefully do even better at taking care of our planet. I want them to know what is possible now, so they can hopefully innovate and do it better in the future. Thank you! Danke! Gracias! Spaciba! Köszönöm! Děkuju!
