The new printer, fidget toys, and puzzles have made an immediate, positive impact on our seven- and eight-year-old learners. At this crucial age, technology like a dedicated printer acts as a vital bridge between digital exploration and hands-on discovery. While our second graders use computers to research exciting topics like plants, insects, and animal habitats, having a printer right in our classroom allows us to bring those digital discoveries directly into their hands. We can instantly print out vivid graphic organizers, diagram worksheets, and customized reading passages that help build early literacy and comprehension skills. \r\n\r\nWhat excites our students most is seeing their hard work transform from a computer screen into a physical project they can proudly hold, color, and display on our classroom walls. In addition, the sensory fidget toys have been a fantastic support during focused study times, giving active second graders a quiet way to channel extra energy and stay calm while listening to stories or working through math problems. The new puzzles have also become a huge favorite during morning routines and collaborative play, helping our young learners develop spatial reasoning, problem-solving skills, and teamwork as they build them together.\r\n\r\nThis combination of tools has been particularly transformative for our second graders' tactile learning and social-emotional development. For instance, students who previously struggled to stay focused during independent work now use the fidget toys to sustain their attention, while the puzzles and printed visual aids make learning interactive and fun. As students arrive at school, our Kindness Crew members greet them with welcoming smiles, encouraging words, and a positive attitude. Their special shirts help them feel united and proud to serve as leaders of kindness in our school.\r\n\r\nIt has been wonderful to see how excited the students are to wear their shirts and take on their Thursday morning responsibilities. They stand ready to welcome their classmates, help create a friendly atmosphere, and remind everyone that small acts of kindness can make a big difference. Their enthusiasm is contagious, and their efforts help set a joyful tone for the school day.\r\n\r\nThe snacks have also been greatly appreciated. They give our student leaders the energy they need to begin their morning responsibilities and help build positive energy among the group. Which is so fun to get to know and interact with them all. \r\n\r\nThe paint quix sticks are awesome!! So easy for our Kinders and 1st graders to use. They glide on smoothly without the extreme mess of water & paintbrushes. \"They work just like a glue stick\" one of our kiddos happily said. They are easy to clean up between rotations ( which is key with when cleaning up one class before the next one comes in.) The kids also felt super important when they saw that they had new paint sticks that not even the big kids had used yet. \r\n\r\nThe board timer really is an amazing tool to have. It keeps me on track of time; the kids can just look up and see how much time is left before they need to clean up. The times up alarm gives them the notice to clean up without me having to get everyones attention; I can continue to help students without stopping to get the attention of the class. It also makes the question \"how much time do we have left?\" pretty much obsolete, which is also a blessing. \r\n\r\nPlease enjoy the pics of our younger kiddos drawing fall trees and leaves with the paint sticks.","fullyFundedDate":1755694771904,"projectUrl":"project/creartivity-flourishes-imagination/9462696/","projectTitle":"CreARTivity Flourishes Imagination","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Kara","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10079256_orig.jpg?crop=2343,2343,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1753385165555","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10079256"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_73758","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":748,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":21,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":71,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":18,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":2,"percentMultiracialImputed":4,"gradesServed":"K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":87.7,"schoolId":73758,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Foothills Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Foothills Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/utah/jordan-school-district/foothills-elementary-school/73758"}
