These printers for my classroom are going to be used to help bolster my students' technology fluency and also give students an outlet for their creativity. This is a project that can be applied in the classroom, or students will be able to hone their skills at home.
Despite being heavily reliant on technology over the past two years due to COVID-19, my students are still technologically illiterate. Their typing skills have improved and they are able to navigate a couple of websites, but the knowledge and abilities with many aspects of the computer are lacking. These 3D printers will give the students an opportunity to learn how to design, learn skills and create projects from websites like Thingiverse and Sketchfab.
These projects will be able to be accessed while at school and also at home. Designing at home would always be an optional task, and those students who gravitate to it will have limitless opportunities to create various projects. However, my goal is to incorporate 3D printers into various subjects like math, social studies, and science. Students will be required to participate in these projects and they will be able to see their hard work come to life.
