For younger students who previously showed reluctance to participate in academic activities, the introduction of light boxes has proved to be a powerful motivator. These students are now fully engaged in foundational skills such as counting, number sense, alphabet recognition, and creating simple words.\r\nAdditionally, the light boxes offer a highly interactive platform for tactile and sensory activities. For example, writing letters and numbers in sand placed over the light source provides an excellent tactile and sensory experience, making the learning process both enjoyable and memorable for early learners.\r\nOlder students are also benefiting greatly from this technology. They are utilizing the light boxes to explore geometry with various geometric shapes, as well as participating in advanced science lessons by examining x-rays of animals. This visual and interactive approach brings abstract concepts to life and fosters a deeper curiosity and understanding.\r\nThank you so much for supporting this project! As the excitement of the new school year has worn off and the challenges students face has increased, the need for a safe and calming space has been crucial. Many students have already utilized the books, toys and furniture that was purchased through these donations. \r\n\r\nNearly every day students seeking connection and comfort come by my office and sit in the cozy chair beside my desk and tell me about their day, their problems and what they are looking forward to that day. Several students have come to my office to calm down when they are emotionally dysregulated or in crisis. During these tough moments students have used legos, books, and toys to help soothe themselves as well as talk about big feelings and problems. \r\n\r\nMany students struggling to develop strong social skills and conflict resolution skills have found the puppets to be a fun way to role play and explore possible scenarios and outcomes when faced with difficult situations.
