Each day I will have the opportunity to teach four fifth and sixth grade classes math and each day these students will have the opportunity to participate in math centers. One of the math centers will be reading math books to improve reading fluency and comprehension of math subjects and one center will be completing math games and puzzles so students can find true enjoyment from math. These materials will be used several times each day! By engaging students with experiences and opportunities that they will have with these math books, activities, puzzles, and riddles students will gain a greater love and appreciation for math and will understand why it is so important that they internalize the lessons that they are taught. As many people perceive math as being something that is difficult and impossible to understand, I want to show my students that math can be fun and that they can find success!
