There is only one way to increase a second language and it is through reading. In my Dual Immersion classroom I have a small library where students can choose a book and take it at home, read it during the week and return it back to the classroom to switched for another book. The more books I have in the library, the more selection students will have to choose from. Students struggle with a lack of reading resources at their homes, and books from my classroom are the only support they have to develop language skills in Spanish. Students have the opportunity to practice their academic Spanish, learn about the science world, culture and general knowledge that support their learning in class.
