It's not the curriculum, the resources, or the books, those things are all important and all have a specific purpose, rather it is the basic supplies. It's the things we don't always think about until we need them, the items that give us peace of mind to always have on hand that I count as the things I truly need to have a successful year. \r\n\r\nTeaching in a Title I school, many students show up without the basic supplies they need for a successful year, so ensuring I have a space they can come and those needs can be met is paramount to making sure everyone is mentally ready for the learning ahead. \r\n\r\nYour donation ensures my students have all of the classroom essentials covered for whenever they need them. Knowing they can get a pencil, grab a pack of tissues, keep themselves as germ free as possible, and even grab a notebook if they need it truly eases the burden many of them feel when they start a new year. Projects like this provide for students in so many ways, and I am so appreciative of the help in making sure my students are ready for success!","fullyFundedDate":1723206529616,"projectUrl":"project/get-mentally-ready/8609178/","projectTitle":"Get Mentally Ready!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Bruno","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5184189_orig.png?crop=445,445,x147,y251&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1559064853971","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/michellebruno"},{"teacherId":5184189,"projectId":8361867,"letterContent":"SEL is such an important, and often overlooked part of education. Thank you for seeing it, believing in it, and helping teachers like me fund projects to create spaces that truly foster positive SEL in the classroom. \r\n\r\nThis project truly was about creating a positive, growth mindset space for students. I wanted to create a class environment that welcomed and made students truly feel comfortable in their workspace. \r\n\r\nStudents and I discussed what they felt classrooms should have, what draws them to spaces and helps get them interested in what is going on in their classes. Many students were adamant that adding things like neon signs, lights, and other items to the walls were just as important to them as the resources and content in a class. Students reported feeling more at ease when the classroom looked like a happy, welcoming place. The neon signs in this project were all chosen by students as a representation of what SEL in the classroom means to them. \r\n\r\nThe other items are much needed basics that the students use on a daily basis. Tissues, pencils, and TPT resources are daily items for students and I cannot be more grateful that because of you, I am able to give these items to students whenever they need them.","fullyFundedDate":1715257395320,"projectUrl":"project/sel-decor-and-more/8361867/","projectTitle":"SEL, Decor, and More","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Bruno","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5184189_orig.png?crop=445,445,x147,y251&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1559064853971","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/michellebruno"},{"teacherId":5184189,"projectId":8129500,"letterContent":"Thank you for your help in getting some much needed supplies in the hands of my students. This time of year is really when we seem to go through supplies the fastest, and having basic things on hand to meet all the needs of my students is so important in ensuring they get the best education and have the most room for success possible. \r\n\r\nAs we work to combat cold and flu season, having essential supplies like tissues, sanitizer, and lotion mean class doesn't have to stop if someone isn't feeling well. Having individual packs of tissues is especially important because it helps to stop the spread of germs and keep everyone nice and healthy. The dehumidifier is also very helpful in keeping the air quality of the classroom where it needs to be to stop the spread of germs as well. \r\n\r\nI also truly appreciate your funding of feminine hygiene products. Period poverty is a very real problem in my school, and many of my female students appreciate knowing they can come to me for help during a sensitive time of the month and they don't have to always run to the nurse. It helps ensure they are in school more and can concentrate on their work because this is one less thing to worry about. \r\n\r\nFinally, thank you for supporting literacy for my students. Literacy development is a pillar of our education plan and getting students to read is paramount to that success. As we are moving into more online resources, the power adapter is especially important as it allows students to charge their devices and ensure they are ready for class each day. As always, pencils are a high need and having presharpened ones means one less step in preparation for success. \r\n\r\nI wanted to add some high-interest reads to our class library so the titles I chose came directly from student requests. My students not only read on a range of levels, they have eclectic tastes, and I wanted them to feel represented in the book selection in our classroom. Many students are really enjoying Finding Latinx, as many of them struggle with their own identity. TPT really does allow me to provide new and engaging resources to my students in order to meet their needs and our goals as a class. I also always appreciate being able to have pencils for everyone and not having to worry about students not having things to write with. For many of my students, knowing they don't need to worry about a pencil in here is so helpful to them and is something they greatly appreciate as well! \r\n\r\nThe books wer were able to get are also fantastic editions to the classroom. My students are very interested in personal finance, and are very into mystery novels so the books I was able to get are already being used by students! Tissues are always in high demand, and foam tape allows me to secure any item to any wall without it falling down. Pencils are always a necissity as well and being able to tell students they never have to worry about having one in my room really goes a long way in building a successful class community. Learning how to teach with new technologies and expanding my best practices is truly essential as a 21st century teacher and the PD books I was able to receive are invaluable in my classroom. \r\n\r\nThe bookshelf was an absolute need and the kids are already enjoying choosing books from it. I am working on organizing the books by genre and topic, so students have an easier time not only finding books that interest them, but getting out of their comfort zone as well. Many of them are visual learners, and things like color go a long way in helping them retain information. Being able to use flair pens to write has made a huge difference for many of my students, and instead of not wanting to take notes, students try to get here early in order to get their favorite color to write with. It's these little things that can go a long way in helping a student be successful. \r\n\r\nThey also really love the True Crime books and the resources I was able to purchase with my TPT gift card.
