The snacks and fidgets you provided have already made a meaningful difference in our students' daily lives. At the end of the day, some students need that extra snack to help them feel better and stay focused, and having that support available has truly helped them finish their day on a positive note. The fidgets have also been a great tool for students who need a moment to reset, giving them a healthy way to refocus and stay engaged in their learning.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the excitement in the room was immediate. Students were so grateful and eager to use them, and it created a sense of comfort and care in our classroom. One special moment was seeing a student who typically struggles with focus use a fidget during a lesson and stay fully engaged, participating and sharing ideas with confidence. These small tools are making a big impact on both learning and well-being.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, we will continue using these resources to support our students both academically and emotionally. Since receiving the new resources, students have been using them every day in multiple ways. Healthy breakfast snacks give scholars the energy they need to start the day focused and engaged, especially for those who receive free or reduced lunch. The air purifier has made a huge difference in reducing allergens and sensory distractions, helping students with multiple disabilities manage emotions and concentrate during lessons. Motivational incentives and a classroom pet provide hands-on opportunities for students to practice responsibility, empathy, and self-regulation. Social-emotional learning materials, including calming tools and discussion prompts, are used daily during morning meetings, small-group instruction, and one-on-one support in the resource room. These resources are directly supporting IEP goals in focus, positive behavior, and communication, while also fostering independence and confidence in all students.\r\n\r\nThe students' reactions when they first saw the materials were priceless. One student ran straight to the snack basket and exclaimed, \"We can have breakfast here? I feel ready to learn!\" Another student immediately wanted to feed and care for our classroom pet, taking the responsibility seriously and proudly reporting back on their task to the group. During a small-group activity with the calming tools, students took turns modeling how to use deep breathing or fidget strategies to manage frustration, helping each other and celebrating successes. It was amazing to watch them connect, practice patience, and genuinely enjoy their time in the resource room while building important life skills. The classroom has become a space where students are motivated not only to participate academically but also to support one another socially and emotionally.\r\n\r\nNext steps for our students involve continuing to integrate these resources into ongoing classroom projects and lessons. In literacy, students are working on reading comprehension and discussion skills, using the calm, focused environment to engage in small-group read-alouds and partner discussions. In SEL, students will rotate responsibility for caring for the classroom pet, maintain snack and motivation logs, and practice using calming tools independently when they feel stressed or frustrated. Over the next few weeks, we will track progress on IEP goals related to focus, self-regulation, and positive behavior, and we'll continue to celebrate every milestone, big or small. Your contributions have provided more than just materials—they've created a safe, nurturing, and empowering space where every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Our classroom is brighter, calmer, and full of hope because of you, and we can't wait to share more of our students' successes as they continue to grow.","fullyFundedDate":1768743749282,"projectUrl":"project/clean-air-nutrition-and-sel-for-a-thri/10028847/","projectTitle":"Clean Air, Nutrition, and SEL for a Thriving Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Pannell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6730813"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_97019","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":243,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":41,"percentAsian":6,"percentBlack":40,"percentWhite":8,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":42,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 4","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Weighted Average","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":null},"inStateSupporters":65.8,"schoolId":97019,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Camden's Pride Charter School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Camden's Pride Charter School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-jersey/new-jersey-department-of-education/camden-s-pride-charter-school/97019"}
