Students often don't have access to some of this equipment and thus don't have the opportunity to learn these skills, so having this equipment for our club is very special! Our fitness club also allows for students to bond with other students they may not normally have the opportunity to spend time with, as well as having fun with the teachers. Having the option to move and choose a different place to work has been especially helpful for students who learn best when they are not confined to a traditional desk and chair. The trays, magnetic book shelf, pencil holders, and other organizational materials have also helped our classroom run more smoothly and taught students to take greater responsibility for their materials and workspace.\r\n\r\nThe art and writing supplies have given students additional ways to express themselves and demonstrate what they know. The Play-Doh, wooden building manipulatives, markers, and other hands-on materials allow students to learn through creating, building, and experimenting rather than relying only on paper-and-pencil activities. These materials provide different entry points for students with different learning styles and needs.\r\n\r\nOne of the most helpful additions has been the rechargeable electric pencil sharpener. Something as simple as being able to sharpen a pencil independently has given students more autonomy. Instead of waiting for an adult to help them, they can recognize what they need and take care of it themselves. That small moment of independence reinforces responsibility and confidence.\r\n\r\nThe incentives and snacks have also helped encourage students to participate and stay motivated. Having small rewards such as candy, fruit snacks, Goldfish, and squishies has been an effective way to celebrate effort, encourage positive choices, and make learning feel rewarding. The squishies have also provided students with a small sensory tool when they need a moment to refocus.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, these materials have allowed me to offer my students more choices in how they learn and engage with our classroom.
