My students may be our future doctors, engineers, and leaders who will need to be able to work cooperatively with others. Cooperation is not a skill that can be taught through rote memorization or with strategically placed posters. Cooperation is an essential skill that must be practiced and what better way than through cooperative games. These games promote communication and create a positive, safe learning environment where students are invited to be risk takers and problem solvers. These games are inclusive as everyone is working toward a common goal which can promote a “sense of belonging” and a positive group identity. Cooperative games teach kindness and fairness which are necessary social interactions in a 21st century global community.
