My students missed the end of 2nd grade and all of in-person, regular third grade. They worked very hard online and in hybrid, but it just wasn't the same. My students need to learn their math facts. Fourth-grade math is heavy on story problems, multi-step word problems, and other, more difficult concepts. My students are hung up on the operations and simple computations that should be second nature to them by fourth grade. NVAC 4.NBT.B.4 requires students to fluency add and subtract multi-digit whole numbers but my students do not yet have fluency with single-digit whole numbers.
