We are using these new resources every day to support hands-on, engaging learning experiences that help each student participate more fully and confidently.\r\n\r\nOne meaningful moment came during a recent classroom activity when students used the new materials to complete a collaborative project. Students who typically struggle to engage were eager to join in—pointing, selecting, and interacting with the materials in ways that showed excitement and understanding. It was incredible to see their confidence grow as they realized these tools helped them communicate and learn more independently.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the students were immediately curious and enthusiastic. Their faces lit up as they explored something new that was clearly designed with their needs in mind. That sense of excitement has carried over into our daily routines, where students now look forward to learning activities with increased motivation and focus.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we will continue building on this momentum by incorporating these resources into structured lessons that support communication, literacy, and social interaction. Our next steps include expanding their use in small-group instruction and individualized learning plans, allowing each student to grow at their own pace while developing critical skills for the future.\r\n\r\nYour support has made a meaningful and lasting difference in our classroom. What began as a simple observation—that not everyone experiences sound in the same way—grew into a powerful, student-led effort to create a more inclusive and supportive learning environment. By recognizing that some peers are more sensitive to noise, students took initiative to ensure that everyone has access to tools that help them feel comfortable, calm, and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nThrough fundraising, awareness campaigns, and peer collaboration, students have worked together to provide supportive headphones for those who experience sound more intensely. This effort has significantly reduced noise-related stress for many learners, especially in busy classrooms, hallways, and other shared spaces. As a result, students who may have previously felt overwhelmed are now better able to focus, participate in lessons, and engage with their peers. Teachers have also noticed a positive shift, with fewer disruptions and an overall increase in student concentration and on-task behavior.\r\n\r\nBeyond the physical tools provided, the project has helped foster a culture of empathy and understanding throughout the school. Students are more aware of the diverse ways their classmates experience the world, and they are learning to respond with kindness and respect. Conversations about sensory needs and wellness have become more open and normalized, reducing stigma and encouraging students to advocate for themselves and others. This growing awareness has strengthened relationships among students and between students and staff, creating a more connected and compassionate community.\r\n\r\nThe impact extends to the entire school community, including teachers, staff, and families, who have all played a role in supporting and sustaining the initiative. By involving everyone, the project reinforces a shared responsibility for creating a positive learning environment. Families have expressed appreciation for the increased attention to student wellness, and staff members feel better equipped to meet the needs of all learners. This collective effort has helped build a school culture where inclusion is not just encouraged but actively practiced every day.\r\n\r\nUltimately, *Sound Support: Hear Everyone, Help Everyone* demonstrates that small, thoughtful actions can lead to meaningful change. By empowering students to lead with empathy and take action, the project has improved not only individual student experiences but also the overall climate of the school. Classrooms are calmer, students are more focused, and there is a stronger sense of belonging for everyone. This initiative continues to show that when students are given the opportunity to care for one another, they can create a learning environment where every individual feels supported, valued, and ready to succeed.","fullyFundedDate":1775844607100,"projectUrl":"project/sound-support-hear-everyone-help-every/10186709/","projectTitle":"Sound Support: Hear Everyone, Help Everyone","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Johnson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10405830"},{"teacherId":8091649,"projectId":10002711,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our STEM project. So far we have been able to help promote fine motor skills and reading CVC words with them so far but as we continue they will be able to use them in math, social studies, and science. There is so much that can be done with them.\r\nThe students have been engaged with those items that we have received. We have used the playdough during Centers and is still one of the favorites months later. I have been able to create some great word cards that the students have been able to use in the Writing Center and will be able to have for future classes as well. I really appreciate the writing tablets for students to use instead of whiteboards and dry erase markers because I don't have to worry about markers drying out and if the students cleaned their boards enough. The writing tablets are perfect for helping them out during math and practice writing letters.\r\nLastly, I am so thankful for the containers of cleaning wipes. It is a simple thing but with them we are able to wipe our tables to help the students' sickness down. This year has had a couple of really tough rounds of sickness and I feel that just wiping down the tables everyday has made it so more students have been present at school instead of sick. Being present everyday is so important!\r\nBeing able to receive each and every item is one more thing that I do not have to worry about how to get or end up buying myself. Your generosity has made a meaningful difference in our daily learning environment.\r\nWhen our first boxes of books arrived, my students spent over an hour exploring them with excitement and curiosity. The books came in four separate boxes, and my students quickly learned what that meant—everything else would pause so we could open each box together and discover what was inside.\r\nThese books have become an essential part of our daily routine. Students independently choose to visit the classroom library, especially on Monday mornings after being away for the weekend. When they complete tasks and need downtime, they are often found reading in the library or lying on the carpet with a book in hand. In fact, I now have \"Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?\" memorized—because it is requested at least once every single day!\r\nWhen our new carpet arrived, I was ecstatic. I even included a picture of the day I rolled it out and tested it myself—I joked that the night janitors might find me sleeping there! This carpet has quickly become the heart of our classroom. Students read, play, learn, and rest on it throughout the day, and I am often right there on the floor with them.\r\nIn our Early Childhood documentation photos, the difference is clear. Instead of a worn and stained space, students are now learning and playing on a clean, soft, and welcoming carpet. In a classroom serving students with autism, having access to a comfortable, structured space and engaging, developmentally appropriate reading materials is especially important, as it supports attention, communication, and early literacy development while helping students feel safe and regulated.\r\nYour donations have truly helped create a classroom environment where students feel safe, valued, and excited to learn and explore.\r\nThank you again for your generosity and for making a lasting impact on my students' daily experiences.","fullyFundedDate":1768240594223,"projectUrl":"project/kids-autism-carpet-and-book-update/10009080/","projectTitle":"Kids' Autism Carpet and Book Update","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Perry","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10402026"},{"teacherId":10411067,"projectId":10037286,"letterContent":"Our new recess resources have transformed playtime.
