This project is aimed at helping students with reading, but once it's fulfilled it will create effects throughout the classroom and the future lives of these students. There is a lot that any book can offer, but how awful and unfulfilling it must be not to see any books that show people like you? Our classroom library needs more books that offer our African American students a mirror into their own experience, rather than just a window into the experiences of others. This book set will do just that. Furthermore, we are wiggling all over and my students need a good alternative space to sit on the floor while they do their independent reading and when we meet for intervention groups. With your donations, students can find a perfect balance and focus on the text.
