Transforming our static school hallways into interactive reading pathways brought an immediate surge of energy to our daily routine. Seeing story pages displayed down the corridor made reading feel less like a traditional lesson and more like an exciting adventure waiting to be explored.\r\n\r\nOur hallway Story Walk has completely reshaped how my students engage with literacy. As they walk down the halls, they stop at each station to read the featured pages and actively participate in the accompanying activities. Whether they are answering comprehension prompts, acting out character scenes, or inventing their own parts of the story, they are movement-focused, highly engaged, and eager to discover what happens next. It has turned our hallway into a vibrant learning environment where reading and physical movement seamlessly connect.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we plan to rotate new stories and activity prompts throughout the school year to keep the momentum going. Your donations have made a meaningful difference in the learning environment I am able to provide each day.\r\n\r\nAs a speech-language professional working with elementary students, I work with children who have a wide variety of communication needs. Some of my students are working on producing speech sounds more clearly, while others are developing their vocabulary, language, social communication, or ability to express their wants and needs. The materials provided through this project have allowed me to create speech sessions that are more engaging, interactive, and motivating for my students.\r\n\r\nOne of the biggest improvements I have seen is increased student participation. Having new and exciting materials gives my students something to look forward to when they come to speech. I am able to incorporate their communication goals into play, hands-on activities, games, and structured learning opportunities. Students are practicing important skills while also having fun, which has helped create a positive environment where they feel comfortable communicating, making mistakes, and continuing to try.\r\n\r\nThese resources have also helped me better meet the individual needs of my students. Every child communicates differently, and having a variety of materials allows me to adjust activities based on each student's age, interests, abilities, and goals. Whether a student is practicing a new speech sound, learning to use words to request an item, answering questions, following directions, or building conversational skills, your support has given me more opportunities to make those skills meaningful and functional.\r\n\r\nIn our speech room, we often talk about \"progress, not perfection.\" Your generosity has helped me create a space where students can make that progress one word, sound, sentence, and interaction at a time.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in my students and believing in the importance of communication. Please know that the impact of your donation goes far beyond the materials themselves. You have helped provide my students with more opportunities to find their voices, build their confidence, and become stronger communicators.\r\n\r\nWith sincere gratitude,\r\n\r\nA Grateful Speech-Language Professional\r\n&","fullyFundedDate":1778618499011,"projectUrl":"project/hands-on-speech-growth/10056481/","projectTitle":"Hands-On Speech Growth","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Dunn","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10417590_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1771884209016","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10417590"},{"teacherId":9271022,"projectId":10350589,"letterContent":"Thank you for the opportunity to meet students where they are and provide them with tools to support their social-emotional and sensory needs. It has become a versatile resource that supports activities such as Four Square, striking games, and a variety of hand-eye coordination stations with skill progressions ranging from beginner to advanced, along with fun challenges that keep students engaged.\r\n\r\nWe have also incorporated the equipment into our recess program by creating a pickleball station where students can choose how they participate. Some enjoy practicing independently by rallying against the wall, while others partner with friends to rally back and forth or play Four Square. This flexibility encourages students to stay active, collaborate, and build confidence through movement.\r\n\r\nAs with any new game or equipment introduced in physical education, our students are excited to learn and eager to participate. As a Title I school, many of our students face challenges outside of the classroom, and physical education provides a positive, supportive environment where they can be active, experience success, and develop lifelong healthy habits.\r\n\r\nI invest a great deal of time researching innovative equipment and activities that will motivate students while teaching valuable physical, social, and emotional skills. Introducing new experiences keeps students engaged, excited to learn, and willing to challenge themselves.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, we plan to continue building students' pickleball skills while expanding our focus on hand-eye coordination, movement patterns, striking skills, teamwork, and overall physical literacy.
