Your donations have made a meaningful difference in the learning environment I am able to provide each day.\r\n\r\nAs a speech-language professional working with elementary students, I work with children who have a wide variety of communication needs. Some of my students are working on producing speech sounds more clearly, while others are developing their vocabulary, language, social communication, or ability to express their wants and needs. The materials provided through this project have allowed me to create speech sessions that are more engaging, interactive, and motivating for my students.\r\n\r\nOne of the biggest improvements I have seen is increased student participation. Having new and exciting materials gives my students something to look forward to when they come to speech. I am able to incorporate their communication goals into play, hands-on activities, games, and structured learning opportunities. Students are practicing important skills while also having fun, which has helped create a positive environment where they feel comfortable communicating, making mistakes, and continuing to try.\r\n\r\nThese resources have also helped me better meet the individual needs of my students. Every child communicates differently, and having a variety of materials allows me to adjust activities based on each student's age, interests, abilities, and goals. Whether a student is practicing a new speech sound, learning to use words to request an item, answering questions, following directions, or building conversational skills, your support has given me more opportunities to make those skills meaningful and functional.\r\n\r\nIn our speech room, we often talk about \"progress, not perfection.\" Your generosity has helped me create a space where students can make that progress one word, sound, sentence, and interaction at a time.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in my students and believing in the importance of communication. Please know that the impact of your donation goes far beyond the materials themselves. What began as a simple observation—that not everyone experiences sound in the same way—grew into a powerful, student-led effort to create a more inclusive and supportive learning environment. By recognizing that some peers are more sensitive to noise, students took initiative to ensure that everyone has access to tools that help them feel comfortable, calm, and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nThrough fundraising, awareness campaigns, and peer collaboration, students have worked together to provide supportive headphones for those who experience sound more intensely. This effort has significantly reduced noise-related stress for many learners, especially in busy classrooms, hallways, and other shared spaces. As a result, students who may have previously felt overwhelmed are now better able to focus, participate in lessons, and engage with their peers. Teachers have also noticed a positive shift, with fewer disruptions and an overall increase in student concentration and on-task behavior.\r\n\r\nBeyond the physical tools provided, the project has helped foster a culture of empathy and understanding throughout the school. Students are more aware of the diverse ways their classmates experience the world, and they are learning to respond with kindness and respect. Conversations about sensory needs and wellness have become more open and normalized, reducing stigma and encouraging students to advocate for themselves and others. This growing awareness has strengthened relationships among students and between students and staff, creating a more connected and compassionate community.\r\n\r\nThe impact extends to the entire school community, including teachers, staff, and families, who have all played a role in supporting and sustaining the initiative. By involving everyone, the project reinforces a shared responsibility for creating a positive learning environment. Families have expressed appreciation for the increased attention to student wellness, and staff members feel better equipped to meet the needs of all learners. This collective effort has helped build a school culture where inclusion is not just encouraged but actively practiced every day.\r\n\r\nUltimately, *Sound Support: Hear Everyone, Help Everyone* demonstrates that small, thoughtful actions can lead to meaningful change. By empowering students to lead with empathy and take action, the project has improved not only individual student experiences but also the overall climate of the school. Classrooms are calmer, students are more focused, and there is a stronger sense of belonging for everyone. This initiative continues to show that when students are given the opportunity to care for one another, they can create a learning environment where every individual feels supported, valued, and ready to succeed.","fullyFundedDate":1775844607100,"projectUrl":"project/sound-support-hear-everyone-help-every/10186709/","projectTitle":"Sound Support: Hear Everyone, Help Everyone","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Johnson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10405830"},{"teacherId":8091649,"projectId":10002711,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our STEM project.
