For our teachers, having access to basic classroom materials can make the difference between simply presenting information and creating an engaging, hands-on learning experience.\r\nBecause of your generosity, supplies were distributed to more than 50 classrooms across multiple content areas, reaching hundreds of students.\r\nThe impact could be seen in classrooms throughout our school:\r\nFreshman English students used supplies to make vocabulary instruction more\r\ninteractive and memorable, giving students opportunities to work with words rather than simply record definitions.\r\nArt and music students used highlighters, colored pencils, and other materials to explore ideas, create, revise, and express their learning visually.\r\nGovernment students used materials to prepare for and participate in classroom debates, allowing them to develop their communication, reasoning, and argumentation skills.\r\nEnglish language learners used note-taking supplies to organize information, identify\r\nimportant concepts, and build the academic language skills they need to be successful\r\nacross their classes.\r\nMath students used presentation materials to demonstrate mathematical concepts and\r\nexplain their thinking to their classmates, transforming students from passive learners\r\ninto active participants.\r\nPerhaps most importantly, these supplies gave teachers the flexibility to design more engaging learning experiences for students with a wide range of abilities and learning needs. Instead of limiting learning to worksheets, lectures, or digital activities, teachers were able to incorporate color, movement, discussion, collaboration, visual representation, presentations, and hands-on learning.\r\nYour donation reached far beyond a single classroom. It supported teachers across our school and provided students with additional opportunities to participate, create, communicate, collaborate, and demonstrate their learning in different ways.\r\nFor students who may struggle to connect with traditional instructional methods, these\r\nseemingly simple materials can provide another pathway into learning. I use the snacks and prizes as incentives for students working through their online credit-recovery courses, and the response has been wonderful. Many of my students are balancing school with significant challenges outside of the classroom, and some arrive tired or hungry. Having a snack available while they work gives them an extra boost and helps create a classroom environment where they feel supported and motivated to keep going.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments is when a student completes a course that they have been working on for weeks. Instead of simply clicking \"submit\" and moving on to the next assignment, they get to celebrate their accomplishment by choosing a prize. The excitement over something as simple as a book, LEGO set, or other small reward reminds me that these students really value being recognized for their hard work. For some students, completing a credit-recovery course can be the difference between graduating on time and needing to attend Adult Education. I want my students to know that they belong at our school and that we believe they can graduate as Valley Vikings.\r\n\r\nThe resources are also supporting another special project in my classroom. My 11th-grade students participate in a five-month mentoring program in which they mentor 5th-grade students at a local elementary school. Together, they work on exhibitions focused on real-world issues and develop their communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. As the program comes to an end, my students want to give their younger mentees a small gift to celebrate their accomplishments. Because many of my students come from families who may not have extra money for gifts, having a collection of prizes available means that every student can participate and give their mentee something special.\r\n\r\nThe biggest impact of this project is not really the snacks or prizes themselves—it is what they represent. They tell my students that their effort matters, that their accomplishments are worth celebrating, and that there are people outside of our school who believe in them.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to continue helping students complete their remaining credits and reach graduation while also finishing the mentoring exhibitions with our 5th-grade partners. One special moment was when a group successfully tested their bridge and it held more weight than they expected—students cheered and immediately started discussing how their design made it stronger. The students were very excited and curious when they saw the materials. Many of them couldn't wait to start building and began sharing ideas with their teammates right away. The hands-on materials made the project feel real and fun, and even students who are usually quiet became more engaged and involved. Next, students will improve and redesign their bridges based on testing results. They will measure how much weight their bridges can hold and analyze which designs are the strongest and why. Finally, they will present their projects, explaining their design choices and what they learned about structure, stability, and problem-solving. Thank you, donors, for these materials. The dry erase markers are great because students can practice on the boards and erase their mistakes without feeling bad. We are using the graph paper to draw out different types of curves and see how they work in the real world. They allow students to visualize math in real time. For example, when learning about quadratic functions, students can graph equations instantly and see how changes in coefficients affect the shape and position of the parabola. This immediate feedback helps deepen their understanding and builds confidence in their problem-solving skills.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting aspects for students has been learning how to navigate the calculator efficiently. I taught them how to use the keys specifically for graphing quadratic functions, which made them feel more independent and capable. They were especially engaged when they realized they could check their own work using Boolean logic.
