The students were excited right away. When they saw the three types of comfortable seats, they quickly tried them all and settled in for their lessons with big smiles and laughter. These new seats have made a real difference, especially for my students in the primary autism program, who benefit so much from flexible and supportive seating that helps them focus and take part in learning.\r\n\r\nWe have already started using the new seats in different ways. During lessons, students pick the spot where they feel most comfortable, and I have seen a clear improvement in their focus and participation. One moment that stood out was during a reading circle. Students who used to have trouble staying engaged were able to stay focused and relaxed the whole time, thanks to the new seats.\r\n\r\nNext, we want to help students become more independent. They will use their comfortable seats to work on task boxes and workbooks by themselves, building confidence and important skills for the future. These reusable boards allow students to practice writing, spelling, drawing, and solving problems in a fun, hands-on way while building confidence and participation.\r\n\r\nOne memorable classroom moment happened during a phonics lesson when students used the boards to practice writing sight words and sounding out new vocabulary words. Every student was actively engaged, eagerly holding up their boards to share answers and celebrate their progress. The instant feedback allowed me to quickly check for understanding while students felt excited and successful participating in the lesson.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the magic writing boards, they were absolutely thrilled. They could not wait to begin using them and immediately started talking about all the different ways they could practice learning with them. The colorful, interactive nature of the boards made students even more excited to participate, especially those who are sometimes hesitant during writing activities.\r\n\r\nAs we continue through the school year, students will use the writing boards to strengthen handwriting, spelling, sentence writing, math fluency, and problem-solving skills. Because of you, my students now have new high-interest books, including the I Survived Series Graphic Novel Book Set, along with additional chapter books that have already become favorites. Having fresh, engaging choices has increased student excitement for independent reading and helped more students stick with a book long enough to finish it.\r\n\r\nThese new texts are helping students strengthen key reading skills we work on daily, like identifying main idea and key details, summarizing, making inferences, and using text evidence to explain their thinking. The graphic novel format especially supports comprehension because students use illustrations, dialogue, and text features to track plot and character change. Students are also building vocabulary and fluency as they reread sections, practice expression, and discuss what happened and why.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom includes daily independent reading time, partner reading, quick conferences with me, and sharing \"book recommendations\" to classmates. I have students who used to struggle to choose a book or stay focused who are now asking to read longer, finishing chapters, and excitedly retelling events to friends. Several students are especially enjoying the I Survived stories, they love the suspense and the real-world connections, and they are motivated to read so they can find out what happens next.
