With this new collection of books, students will be able to choose good-fit books at their level with similar themes, concepts, and ideas. I am requesting three different Rosa Parks books, three different legends and three different realistic fiction books. Sets of books such as Freedom Train, Abby Takes a Stand, and Julian's Glorious summer explore history, civil rights and doing what's right. These books will allow multiple students to read the same book at the same time. By establishing book clubs and using the C.I.A. approach, students learn to move into chapter books in successful ways. They explore a variety of genres, authors, and differentiated levels. Using these books clubs encourages collaboration, discussion, and responsibility. Don't you love a good book club?
