Your generosity has provided my students with materials and resources that will make a meaningful difference in their learning, development, and everyday classroom experiences.\r\n\r\nWorking with young students with autism is incredibly rewarding, but it also comes with unique learning needs. My students learn best when they have opportunities to see, touch, move, explore, practice, and experience concepts in ways that are meaningful to them. The materials from this project have given me additional ways to make learning more hands-on, engaging, and accessible for every student in my classroom.\r\n\r\nFor my students, learning is not always about sitting at a desk and completing a worksheet. Sometimes learning looks like matching, sorting, building, pointing, communicating, taking turns, practicing fine-motor skills, identifying pictures, following directions, or simply staying engaged with an activity for a few extra minutes. Every one of those moments is an important accomplishment. Having appropriate classroom materials allows me to turn those moments into valuable learning opportunities.\r\n\r\nThese resources have supported my students in so many different areas. They can be used to practice academic skills such as letters, numbers, colors, shapes, vocabulary, early reading, counting, and matching. At the same time, they help students develop important life and classroom skills, including communication, attention, fine-motor coordination, independence, problem-solving, sharing, turn-taking, and following routines.\r\n\r\nOne of the things I love most about working with primary students with autism is seeing their excitement when they discover something new. A student may not always be able to tell us with words that they are proud of themselves, but we can see it in their smile, their excitement, their willingness to try again, or the way they independently return to an activity they have mastered. Your support helps create more of those moments.\r\n\r\nThe materials also give my students opportunities to experience success. For students who may become frustrated when a task is difficult, having hands-on materials that can be adapted to their individual levels allows me to meet them where they are and gradually help them build new skills. I can simplify an activity for a student who needs additional support or make it more challenging for a student who is ready to move forward.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, your donation helps me create a classroom where my students feel successful, capable, and excited to learn. It allows me to provide learning experiences that are not only educational but also fun and motivating.\r\n\r\nI am incredibly grateful that you chose to support my students. Your generosity reaches far beyond the materials themselves. You are helping provide opportunities for young learners to communicate, explore, grow, and become more independent. You are helping my students experience the joy of learning and giving them tools to help them succeed both inside and outside of the classroom.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in my students and in the work we do every day. Your kindness and generosity have made a lasting impact on our classroom. I am so thankful that you helped make this project a reality and gave my students new opportunities to learn, grow, and shine!\r\n\r\nWith heartfelt appreciation,\r\nThank you for supporting our classroom and our amazing students!","fullyFundedDate":1638791223357,"projectUrl":"project/learn-explore-play-in-primary-autism/6051511/","projectTitle":"Learn, Explore, Play in Primary Autism","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. James","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8225002"},{"teacherId":1923741,"projectId":10007307,"letterContent":"Thank you for supporting my ideas to help bring fun and enjoyment into the classroom. Our classroom is warm, inviting, and loved by all that enter!Thank you so much for supporting our \"Making Classroom Fun Again\" project! Your generosity has brought new energy, excitement, and joy into our classroom in ways that go far beyond simply having new equipment.\r\n\r\nThe karaoke machine and basketball hoop have created new opportunities for students to learn through movement, music, teamwork, and self-expression. The technology, in particular, gives students a chance to practice communication, confidence, listening, and public speaking in a way that feels natural and fun. Students are excited to participate because the activities feel less like traditional schoolwork and more like something they genuinely want to be part of.\r\n\r\nWhat excites our students most is having something new and interactive that they can share with their classmates. The karaoke machine has been especially exciting because students can choose songs, sing together, encourage one another, and celebrate each other's efforts. The basketball hoop has also created opportunities for friendly competition, teamwork, and movement throughout the school day.\r\n\r\nWe have also seen students who may be quieter or less likely to participate in traditional classroom activities really come alive with these new experiences. Some students who are hesitant to speak in front of the class are much more willing to participate when they can sing along with their classmates or take part in a game. It has been wonderful to see students cheering each other on, trying something new, and discovering that they can be successful in ways they may not have expected.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping us make our classroom a place where learning, laughter, movement, and connection can happen together. The math books have been especially helpful as engaging introductions to our math lessons, giving students a fun and relatable way to connect with new concepts before we begin learning. They help students see that math is more than numbers and problems on a page—it can be connected to stories, real-life situations, and experiences they understand.\r\n\r\nWe also use our new books to strengthen important reading skills throughout the school day. Students practice making connections, identifying key details, expanding their vocabulary, making inferences, and discussing their thinking with classmates. Reading in our classroom happens in many different ways, including whole-group read-alouds, small-group discussions, independent reading, and even as a way to introduce concepts in other subjects like math and science.\r\n\r\nOne of the best parts of receiving these books has been seeing how excited students are to explore them. Students are always eager to see which book we will read next, and many enjoy looking through the books again on their own after we have shared them as a class. The variety of topics and stories has helped us reach different interests and gives more students an opportunity to find a book that captures their attention.\r\n\r\nThese books have helped make both reading and math more engaging, meaningful, and memorable for my students.
