My first graders practice how to be independent learners every day. Students have more confidence and stay on task better when they know exactly what is expected of them and how to do it. My students need self-directed, engaging, and thought=provoking games and activities to use during small-group time. We spend the first several weeks of school learning how to work in small groups. When the tasks are clear and engaging, students work hard and are excited to learn. Students need activities that won't cause frustration, which can lead to off-task behavior. These puzzles and games will challenge the brains of every little learner in my classroom at their just-right learning levels.
