Students used the iPads to graph figures, translate them across the coordinate plane, and use different colors to identify the pre-image and image. Being able to move, change, and visualize the figures helped students better understand what happens during a translation and how the coordinates change.\r\n\r\nWhat has been most exciting for my students is being able to interact directly with the figures. Instead of just imagining a transformation from a textbook diagram, they could actually graph it, move it, and see the result. The ability to color-code the pre-image and image also made it easier for students to recognize the relationship between the original figure and its translated image.\r\n\r\nI especially noticed students who sometimes struggle with visualizing abstract math concepts becoming more engaged with the activity. The interactive nature of the iPads gave them an opportunity to experiment and learn from what they saw on the screen. Students were excited to check their work visually and make adjustments when something didn't look right.\r\n\r\nThis project has helped my students see that geometry is not just about memorizing rules and formulas—it is about understanding how shapes move and change. The iPads gave them a hands-on, interactive way to explore transformations while building their confidence with graphing and coordinate geometry. The fidgets and calming materials have been a huge hit with our students.\r\n\r\nOne moment that particularly stood out involved an autistic student who is usually very selective about calming tools. He immediately gravitated toward the new tactile ball and breathing koala, using both to take a much-needed break and successfully reset.\r\n\r\nIt's a great reminder that even though my students are high schoolers, kids are still kids. Many of my students love having something to hold while we talk, as it gently distracts them from their anxiety and helps them open up more deeply. The sensory tubes have become favorites for both students and visiting staff.
