My students live in a neighborhood with the highest number of foreclosures in this city. Because of this, many of their families have had to resort to living with other family members or squeezing into apartments too small to accommodate them. The school my students attend is a Title I low income school, and because of this, my students are understood by others to be "rough" or "unteachable". Many of my students work part time after school and on the weekends to help financially support their families. I want to help educate my students so that they can continue to succeed in the near future academically, but also financially in the distant future.
