Many of our donors are familiar with technology in their own homes, but the way this technology impacts student learning in a school setting is truly powerful. In mathematics—especially Algebra and Geometry—students need to visualize relationships, test patterns, and see immediate feedback on their work. With these calculators, students are now able to graph inequalities, analyze functions, calculate slope, explore transformations, and check solutions with confidence. Concepts that were once abstract or intimidating are now becoming interactive and concrete. The calculators allow them to see math come alive right in front of them, and that has made a noticeable difference in their engagement and comprehension.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting results of this project is how confident and independent students have become. They no longer wait for the teacher to verify an answer—they can graph it, check it, compare data, and make corrections on their own. During our lessons on linear equations, students used the TI-84 Plus CE to compare standard form, slope-intercept form, and graphing form. Many students told me that they finally understood how the \"m\" and \"b\" values influenced the line because they could manipulate them and instantly see the change happen. In Geometry, we used the calculators to graph transformations such as reflections, rotations, and translations. Students who usually struggled with visualizing transformations were suddenly able to understand them with clarity. The color-display feature has been especially exciting—students can compare multiple graphs at once without confusion, and they enjoy seeing each line, parabola, or inequality in different colors. This visual element has made learning more accessible, especially for visual learners who need to \"see\" the math to fully understand it.\r\n\r\nSeveral students have particularly warmed to this new technology. One student in my Honors Geometry class, who normally works quietly and hesitates to ask questions, has grown noticeably more confident because she feels supported by the calculator's visual tools. She told me that the calculator helps her \"test ideas before asking for help,\" which has allowed her to become an independent thinker in class. Another student in my Algebra class, who has struggled for years with fractions and equations, has shown major progress. He used the table feature to compare values, and he was able to see patterns in a way he never understood before. His test grades have improved, but more importantly, he feels pride in his work for the first time. He now participates in class and raises his hand, which is something he rarely did before. The calculators have not only improved academic scores—they have increased student confidence, participation, and curiosity.\r\n\r\nYour donation has done far more than provide technology—it has opened doors for students who previously felt uncertain about their abilities in math. These calculators help level the playing field for many learners, including English language learners and students with different learning styles. When students are able to check their reasoning, explore data, and visualize functions, they gain ownership of their learning. They ask deeper questions, attempt more challenging problems, and take pride in their results. They are learning not just to solve equations—but to think like mathematicians.\r\n\r\nOn behalf of my students and our classroom community, I thank you sincerely for your generosity and belief in the importance of hands-on math education. Every day, I see students engaging more thoughtfully, working more collaboratively, and feeling more confident in their abilities. Your support has impacted not just their grades, but their mindset. Because of you, students are moving beyond fear of math and stepping into curiosity, exploration, and success. We are truly grateful for your investment in their learning, and we will continue using this technology to grow, explore, and build strong foundations for their future.\r\n\r\nThank you again for enhancing Algebra and Geometry with the TI-84 Plus CE calculators—your gift is making a real difference.","fullyFundedDate":1760639695195,"projectUrl":"project/enhancing-algebra-and-geometry-with-ti-8/9754846/","projectTitle":"Enhancing Algebra and Geometry with TI-84 Plus CE","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Erculei","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8156072_orig.jpg?crop=797,797,x0,y55&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1635276634060","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8156072"},{"teacherId":8156072,"projectId":8015096,"letterContent":"When our new resources arrived, my students were so excited—they could hardly wait to use them! We immediately put them into action during our daily lessons, and the difference was clear from the start. For example, while working on a geometry project involving congruence and transformations, students were able to use the calculators to test ideas, visualize graphs, and check their reasoning in real time. This not only made the project more engaging, but it also boosted their confidence as they worked through challenging concepts.\r\n\r\nThe moment I unveiled the materials, the classroom was filled with energy. Students gathered around, asking questions and wanting to try them out right away. Many shared that it felt like they now had the same tools they'd seen older students or test-prep classes use, which gave them a sense of pride and readiness for higher-level math.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, my students are using these resources to prepare for upcoming unit assessments and projects that will build on algebra and geometry skills. With these tools in hand, they're better equipped to practice problem-solving strategies, explore multiple solution paths, and collaborate. Thanks to your generosity, my students not only have the resources they need, but also the motivation to push themselves further in math.","fullyFundedDate":1699797426428,"projectUrl":"project/puzzles-project/8015096/","projectTitle":"Puzzles Project","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Erculei","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8156072_orig.jpg?crop=797,797,x0,y55&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1635276634060","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8156072"},{"teacherId":9357629,"projectId":8013510,"letterContent":"The students greatly appreciated this activity, and it continued through the end of the year.
