Covid has plagued our students for far too long. Because of Covid, students have lost touch with the tactile form of learning. With these purchases, I want to elevate students to DOK4. I want them synthesizing their knowledge and creating projects that demonstrate their knowledge of a particular text or novel. Because I do teach at an arts school, I want students working with paints, brushes, and other tactile items so there will be some kinetic elements to the activity. For example, when reading literature, my goal is to get them to achieve the standard of determining a theme or central idea of a text and analyze in detail by producing artwork that demonstrates their knowledge rather than take a multiple choice test or fill in some short answer response. I'm so excited to see what they produce!
