Their eyes lit up as we unboxed the colorful phonics games and the LeapFrog reading materials. Many of them immediately started pointing out the characters and couldn't wait to dive into the new interactive tools.\r\n\r\nThese resources have completely transformed our daily literacy intervention groups. Students are actively using the LeapFrog reading tools to listen to letter sounds, track words as they read along, and practice blending sounds together in an engaging, self-paced way. In addition, during small group time, we use the phonics games to practice decoding words, building vocabulary, and reinforcing foundational letter-sound relationships through hands-on play. A memorable moment from this week was watching a reluctant reader proudly complete a full word-building game on their own with a huge smile, eager to show off their progress!\r\n\r\nYour support gives my students the targeted intervention they need to build confidence and develop strong reading skills. Because we are still at the beginning of the school year, these materials have allowed us to begin working on multiplication right out of the gate, rather than waiting until later in the year.\r\n\r\nThe hands-on resources give students opportunities to practice facts through games, repetition, movement, and collaborative activities. This makes learning more engaging while helping students build the automaticity they need for more complex math. Research with third graders found that students who participated in a multiplication-fluency intervention improved their average correct responses in one minute by approximately 5–11 facts, depending on their starting level. Another study of third-grade students found significant growth in multiplication fact acquisition and retention after a 10-week intervention.\r\n\r\nThese facts are not just numbers to memorize—they are the foundation for future learning in long division, fractions, decimals, multi-digit multiplication, and multi-step problem solving. When students can recall basic facts more automatically, they have more mental energy available for reasoning and tackling challenging problems.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping me start this important work early and giving my students engaging tools to practice, build confidence, and see themselves as capable mathematicians. Your generosity helped me gather essential classroom supplies along with engaging math and literacy resources that I can use every day.\r\n\r\nThese materials allow me to create more hands-on and engaging learning experiences through manipulatives, collaborative activities, small-group instruction, and differentiated practice. Instead of simply listening to a lesson, students can touch, explore, discuss, practice, and apply what they are learning. Research consistently shows that active learning can improve student achievement and engagement; one meta-analysis of 225 studies found that students in active-learning classrooms performed better than students in traditional lecture-based settings.\r\n\r\nThis is particularly important for my students, who attend a Title I school and often face significant challenges outside of the classroom. These skills will continue to benefit them as they use technology for research, coding, digital projects, presentations, and other classroom activities.\r\n\r\nOur students have also benefited from ramps that allow them to explore the STEM concepts of pushes and pulls. These materials help turn an abstract science concept into something students can see, touch, and test. Students can experiment with how objects move down a ramp and observe what happens when they change the height or angle. They can make predictions, test their ideas, observe results, and discuss what they discovered. These activities help students develop the habits of scientists and engineers while making learning fun and engaging.\r\n\r\nThe birdhouses provided for our second-grade students are another wonderful example of donor support bringing STEM learning to life. Students are able to design and create model birdhouses while practicing engineering and design skills. They must think about how their birdhouse should look, what materials they will use, and how the pieces should fit together. As they build, students learn that engineers often need to make changes and solve problems along the way.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, these donations help provide equitable STEM learning opportunities for our students. As a Title I school, having access to quality hands-on materials can make a tremendous difference. The generosity of our donors allows approximately 800 students to experience STEM in ways that are meaningful, interactive, and memorable.\r\n\r\nWe are truly grateful to the donors who invested in our students. Every computer mouse helps a child become more confident with technology. Every ramp provides an opportunity to explore forces and motion. Every birdhouse gives a young engineer the chance to design, build, and create.
