Through our project, *Empowering Science Classrooms With iPad for Creativity, Equity, and Engagement*, the iPads have allowed my students to access science in ways that feel more personal and meaningful. For my English Language Learners, the iPads provide immediate support through translation tools, visual simulations, and interactive content that make complex topics like chemical bonding or cellular processes easier to understand. Instead of feeling left behind, they can actively participate, ask questions, and demonstrate their learning in different ways such as drawing models, recording explanations, or collaborating with peers during class discussions.\r\n\r\nWhat excites my students the most about the iPads is the sense of ownership and confidence they gain. Many of them light up when they are able to create something, whether it is a digital diagram of a molecule, a short video explaining a concept, or even just contributing to a shared discussion board. It shifts the classroom from a place where they passively receive information to a space where they actively engage and express their understanding. Even students who are usually quiet or hesitant begin to participate more because the technology gives them multiple ways to communicate their thinking without fear of making mistakes in front of others.\r\n\r\nI have especially seen a transformation in my ELL students and those who struggle with confidence. One student who rarely spoke at the beginning of the year now uses the iPad to translate, organize ideas, and share responses during discussions. Another student who had difficulty staying engaged is now consistently on task because the interactive tools keep them involved in the lesson. These moments remind me that technology is not just about devices, it is about access, inclusion, and giving every student a voice. Through this project, I am seeing my classroom become more equitable, more engaging, and more responsive to the diverse needs of my learners.","fullyFundedDate":1769129732948,"projectUrl":"project/empowering-science-classrooms-with-ipad/10046586/","projectTitle":"Empowering Science Classrooms With iPad for Creativity, Equity, and Engagement","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Mandras","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8853886_orig.jpg?crop=768,768,x0,y23&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1723437587443","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrcarlo"},{"teacherId":5278221,"projectId":10015757,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supplying our classroom through this project. Because of your generosity, we were able to celebrate Valentine's Day together as a community and give my students something many of them do not often experience — a reason to show up and feel seen. The Valentine's Day party gave students a space to connect with each other in a positive, joyful way, which matters deeply for students who are working through challenges in attendance, behavior, and social-emotional growth. Watching them laugh, engage, and just be kids for a moment was a reminder of why this work is so important.\r\n\r\nThe Easter eggs have become one of our most effective incentive tools. I use them to reward students across several areas — academics, coursework completion, positive behavior, social-emotional learning, attendance, and college or career readiness milestones. When students know there is something tangible waiting for them on the other side of their hard work, they rise to the occasion. I have seen students come to school on days they would have otherwise skipped, complete assignments they had been avoiding, and make better choices in the classroom — all because they were motivated and felt that their effort was being recognized.","fullyFundedDate":1768426651883,"projectUrl":"project/valentines-day-party/10012366/","projectTitle":"Valentine's Day Party","teacherDisplayName":"Mx. Through your donations, you have managed to impact the learning experience and environment of over 180 students.\r\n\r\nMy students have found the classroom to be a more positive experience with my charging station and easier access to missing assignments through the chargers and construction paper display provided by your donations. This has given students a chance to recharge devices, while managing to prevent them from being tempted to look at phones in the classroom. This also easily allows students to find missing work for a unit without having to consult me. They can easily grab what is needed before the end of class.\r\n\r\nThe vacuum has helped with maintaining a clean classroom floor in between janitor visits. The students appreciate having the option to clean up pencil shavings or crumbs dropped on the carpet. Before, we were mostly working with black-and-white copies, but having color has made a big difference. It's easier for them to notice details and stay focused, especially during activities that require deeper thinking.\r\n\r\nI've also seen a big increase in engagement. When materials are clear and visually organized, students are more willing to participate, work with each other, and take their work seriously. In World History, they're making stronger connections because the visuals actually make sense to them.
