The resources I am requesting will allow me to create engaging manipulatives for a variety of chemistry lessons. Additionally, they will be used to create a colorful, warmer classroom environment. Use the laminator will ensure the materials can be reused year after year. Since returning to the physical classroom from virtual learning, students have been more hesitant to participate in group activities. I have observed that when the students have something physical to hold and focus on, they are more willing to work together and try when they otherwise might not. An example of this is an upcoming lesson where I would use these materials is introducing ionic compounds names and formulas (HS-PS1-2). Students will be given a different puzzle pieces to represent different ions. They will then work together to figure out how to make them fit together based on their charges. The materials I am requesting, will allow me to make the puzzle pieces colorful and durable. There are numerous future activities that can be created as well. In addition to creating activities, I also intend to use the materials to bring more color into my classroom. I would like to make signs and posters to hang around the room.
